ND looks elite this year. And I like the fact that ND is committed to the overall success of the ACC.If ND were in the ACC coastal they would own that division.

ND would be one of the top 3, not sure which would win it all though.

It's amazing how consistently bad the B1G is. They style of play isn't even exciting (other than IU last year).

I can't even stand to watch their highlights. Great cure for insomnia, tho. ACC is much better overall.

Is ND part of ACC football? No. So why the F would they be "ACC family"?

Gladly root against ND when they play Mich. Gladly root for ND vs Big Ten when it benefits me somehow. And gladly root for Big Ten vs ND when rooting for ND doesn't benefit me (which is almost always).

ND is on FSU's schedule. You'd be STUPID not to root for them against teams which are NOT on your schedule, because that only helps your SoS.

So OOC SOS matters to you now?

NOTHING. I stated in post #45 that SoS matters for teams which are in the playoff race (e.g. Florida State). It does NOT matter for Wake Forest, Syracuse, or NC State - those teams just hope for 6+ wins.

Quote:We've heard talk of increasing the importance of strength of schedule before... the last time the BCS REALLY placed a heavy weight on SoS, they ended up with FSU vs. Va Tech in the championship game. The other 4 P5 conferences hated that so much that they immediately de-emphasized SoS the next year (by a HUGE factor, I might add), while making the BCS even more subjective than before. The lesson: it really doesn't matter who you schedule or what you do, you simply cannot guarantee yourself a spot in the championship - like it or not, the ACC's best ally is ESPN, because they can influence subjective opinion.

As for conferences adjusting their scheduling rules - what are you talking about? The SEC and Big Ten play way more cupcakes than the ACC - LINK. The Big XII certainly doesn't play a tough OOC schedule either. Pac-12? marginally better, but still nowhere near as tough as the ACC.

I think you are buying into the SoS hype too much (to be fair, you are not alone in that - many VT fans are buying into it, too). As for me, I'll believe it when I see it... so far, I'd say it's ONE case in favor of SoS (Auburn) and dozens in favor of the undefeated season.

2 different issues: scheduling vs. playing the actual games.
In the above I was discussing scheduling.
Notre Dame is ALREADY on Florida State's schedule; at this point any logical FSU fan wants the Irish to win as many games as possible (without hurting other FSU opponents like Louisville or Syracuse... well, Louisville). That has little to do with whether ND is going to beat FSU or not, but it LOOKS better if they have lots of wins. Besides, ND might eliminate enough contenders from other conferences that even Clemson might get into the playoffs. (VT is making their own statement tonight).

Personally I want ND to lose every game so they don't steal a good bowl from a deserving ACC team.

"We are Notre Dame. We are an independent because we are better than any conference.

Except for bowl slots. Please share your bowl slots with us."

Parasites.

Then they only need to lose 6 games. 07-coffee3

RE: So Notre Dame considered ACC family?
I don't think SOS matters anymore now than it did previously. And "that" one game that ND lost isn't going to destroy FSU's SOS anyways. If you take care of YOUR schedule, the SOS isn't going to mean sh*t.

I've rooted against ND for 20 years. Nothing's going to stop that now. And before ND fans think they're special, you're not. I dislike multiple teams more than ND, and root against basically everyone. Because F everyone.

They shut out Michigan and contributed to the B1G relegation to G5 status.

ND is considered family. Fish 'n Chips and a good brew for everyone.

Most of us care more about the ACC than just football. ND does pretty much everything else so I'd consider them family. I used to root heavily against them as well. Now I will root against them only when they play ACC teams.
