Chest bumps are KEY! Coaching is overrated, anyone can learn that.

Sorry. We are going to take out Idaho no problem. Broncs are going to be ready for this one.

RE: Idaho
Idaho offense: 442 yards
Matt Linehan - 26/47, 324 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT
Jerrel Brown - 22 rushes, 117 yards
Deon Watson - 7 receptions, 98 yards, 1 TD
Joshua McCain - 8 receptions, 93 yards, 2 TD
Richard Montgomery - 6 receptions, 73 yards

...against our defense?

I'm worried.

Wish I had your confidence DE!

Just like MSU a few years ago...when we lose at a B1G venue, and then CMU struts in and wins...just turns the knife.

Hopefully our players can overcome internal obstacles, distractions and attrition.

RE: Idaho
This game has 3 big keys in my opinion.

1) Health of Celiscar and Currie.....Can one or both of them play?
2) Front Seven adjustments. From looking at tape and 2 weeks of practice can any solid adjustments be made to rotations and technique.
3) The offense not coming out flat. As good as Idaho's offense look their Defense looked as bad as ours. They gave up 534 total yards. 384 through the air and 150 on the ground. Terrell can't come out flat like he did against Purdue.

As of right now this game looks like the Purdue game. Its a 1 possession game late but the defense fails to get the stop when it needs to. I however will be hoping we get that one big stop. If the team can pull out a win in Idaho and then win again against Murray that might just be the momentum this team needs to get going in the right direction.

Purdues QBwas awful. Linihan is head and shoulders over him, and Petrino is like Nick Sabin compared to Hazell. I'm feeling a similar score to the Purdue game but it won't ever be a close game. Watching a true freshmen QB with no offers play as he did just crushed my confidence in the recruiting system.

It's one thing for analysts to get it wrong, but in this case coaches missed it too. The kid's dad is an NFL coach, that alone should have got their attention.

Its difficult to travel that far for a game as well. I'd be surprised if we can match up with Paul Petrino's squad but I don't expect to get run out of the place either. I'm thinking 42-31 or something like that.

RE: Idaho
Barn-burner against @ULM, a good mid-major. Doesn't look good for us.

Our point spread is +2.5. Based on our D against Purdue with their QB a bit worse than Idaho's (Idaho's QB ended up throwing a little over 50% + 2INTs), and seeing how CMU blew them out of the water:

WMU 24
Idaho 34

Our D will shore up slightly. ULM ran on them pretty well, though, as will we. If we don't turn the ball over and Terrell throws better, we can win. I'll be happy if its within range of what the bettors think.

RE: Idaho
I don't know that I can pick us to beat anybody right now.

A few weeks ago I heard an interview with DD and he said not to overlook Idaho. I thought "yeah right its Idaho" Problem is, THAT is too often the attitude we have here at WMU, we fail to realize that Idaho is looking at us and saying "yeah right, its Western Michigan"

After seeing how CMU basically destroyed a Purdue team that we competed with but ultimately lost to, I start to question just how improved we actually are.

Im thinking Idaho is an L. And that was one of my 4 wins in my preseason prediction. Knock that down to 3

RE: Idaho
Yeah, I had us down for a loss there preseason. Weird playing environment, wacky travel, they are strong up there.

I changed my mind. We are going to get killed. We have no hope of a win. Just play hard and try to stay casual.

Our only chance for a win is Murray, and if we can't get that one done we are 0-12.

RE: Idaho
Back in the 60's Sullivan fielded a semi-pro football team in GR. I went to a game because I wanted to see Buster Mathis play defense. He wasn't very good. Sullivan's lost to Jackson State Prison. Jackson Prison had a few killers on that team, a couple rapists who were trying to put it to the Sullivan's QB right there on the field, and several players that had a year or two of college ball. They were a real decent team. Uniforms were kind of weird, with the stripes and all.

If a certain GR real estate guy remembers this, please log on for the first time in a long time and confirm. Thanks.

RE: Idaho
Speaking of Buster, I also saw him at a carnival side show at the Lamar Park Wyoming Rodeo. They had chimpanzee wrestling in those days. You payed $10 up front, which would buy a tank of gas in the sixties, and if you could stay in the ring with the chimp for 60 seconds, you won $20.

That chimp threw Buster right out of the ring in less than 10 seconds. Unbelieveable but true. Buster probably weighed 320+, the chimp maybe a stringy 85 pounds. Chimps have a special kind of muscle fibre that is different than us.

So we are saying Idaho's guy, Petrino came in and righted their floundering ship so fast they are a lock to beat us?

Well yeah they do.

Buster is the reason Clay knew he could fight a beast like Foreman and win.

Don't know yet if we are.
