Remember if UC had not let the Bengals play at Nippert in 1968?where would they have had to play? Crosley Field? XU's old field? Miami U's Yeager? Lockland HS?

They owe UC.

Bengals owe UC nothing. Just as UC owes the Bengals nothing.

Now can they work together this year? Sure. And it sound as if both are gaining something they need.

I really doubt transportation is a big problem. The number of students with vehicles is much greater now than it was when you old ***** were in school.

Think this was a benevolent act by UC? This was 1968. 46 yrs ago

Doesn't seem like a good sign that we're the day before the game and I can go online and have my pick of seats between the 40s on the visitor's sideline. Literally, rows 1-4 are nearly wide open in section 109-111.

We averaged just under 32,000 last year in home attendance. I'm hoping Friday's game is north of that number. Let's wait and see what the announced attendance is before freaking out.

Agreed, but don't expect Cali_Cat to ever say anything remotely positive about UC football.

Doesn't help that the game is on a Friday.

yeah so for 10,000th time...if UC hosted a P5 conference schedule we would easily draw 40K. Big difference between a home slate of Tulane, Tulsa, and Houston vs Texas, Ok St and WVA.

You don't "get it"...probably because you are either dumb or don't want to. I vote both.

I hear you. It's just a little disheartening that's all. It's the opener and any panning of the camera to the Toledo sideline is going to show empty swaths of open seats on national TV. Maybe people in the corners can move down to fill in that area.

You also got to think that a lot of the season ticket holders went for the Club seats for this season. I think most did not when we played down at PBS before. I was one that did not think of doing it before getting mine so I will be section 109.

Utah was able to draw around 45k in the MWC, BYU can average around 60k with an independent schedule, even ECU can average are 45-50k with a Conference USA schedule. We've often thought that sight lines and other stadium issues caused UC to average just around 32k. Now we have an opportunity to show there IS a demand in Cincinnati for UC football playing at a much bigger stadium (a profession one at that!) and we are setting our sights at around 30k?? To make matters worse we have to give free basketball tickets (can't even average 10k for a season anymore!!) along with football season tickets?? That is very disheartening!!! I hope things will improve!!!

Cali,

Who do you follow in football? Are you just basketball-only or are you one of those UC basketball/other school football types?

Since you sound concerned. Anytime you want to buy a seat or two and attend a game, you are more than welcome. As well as, offer some monetary support to the athletic department and/or University as a whole.

UC's fball attendance has been trending up, since the Dantonio years. The program has and is continuing to grow the program. The last 3 games at PBS averaged over 40k, OK, UofL and WVU. UC had the majority of fans in the seats for all three of those games. Maybe you should wait to disparage the program and its fans until the games are actually played and over.

Starting following UC more seriously during the International Bowl (coincided with weak basketball years) through the Brian Kelly years. I didn't like the Butch Jones or Tuberville hires so I am more casual now. I do still try to watch every game!!!

Yeah I don't know why UC didn't go after Chip Kelly or Nick Saban.
