If we beat tO$U we're going to get enormous crowds. This town loves a winner.

Does it though? UC football has been winning pretty big for the past 7 years, with the exception of 2010. Still, they twist arms, and hold ticket specials just to get close to equivalent Nippert capacity.

I could see a win over OSU increasing attendance.

The crowds at Nippert have been exponentially better since UC has started to win at a significant level. The difference between UC attendance when I was growing up and now is light years. They weren't twisting arms win 2009 when UC was running the table.

Exactly correct. Count the times UC has hit the 30,000 mark since 2007 and then compare that to the entire history of UC football. What is really impressive is that Cincinnati football has grown in era where the viewing experience at home is at very high level.

After 2009 we sold a ridonkulous amount of season tickets. The fever was high. Then the Disaster of 2010 happened and the fair weather fans vanished like a fart in a tornado. But they will come back for a few games if we stay undefeated.

But we've been gradually building a base of real fans. As previously mentioned, it's waaaaaaay better than it was in our youth.

Agree Mark, but I still think it could be better. Season tix are still around the 12K level, if I remember correctly.

Back in the day, (1979-1985) we could not even dream of 30,000. Dark days indeed. I wish I was closer now. I cannot talk my better half into season tickets from Charlotte. Will get to a couple of games though this year, starting this weekend. Can't wait!

Looking forward to another Bowl Game too!

As others have stated, the attendance has gotten much better. We are still building this fanbase. I believe our future lies in those attending UC, recent grads, and youngsters, who will be future Bearcats. I still see people my age and older holding onto past perceptions of the program.

RE: UC goal: 30,000+ fans for PBS home games
Could attendance spike the week after a win over Ohio State? Sure it could. It did after the win over Penn State in the 80's for the next home game when Nippert filled up for Oklahoma State. The Bearcats played well and lost that game. All the "new" fans disappeared for twenty years.

The difference today is that what UC is building is sustainable. It's an amazing combination of great coaches during the BCS years, improved facilities and a much larger residential student population. Visiting campus this week the majority of students were wearing UC gear. That wasn't the case in my undergraduate days. A cultural change has occurred. Nippert will become a tough ticket to get in the next five years as these students remain engaged and committed.
