Carey did say we planned on playing all 3 but the game was going to dictate playing time.

I have not watched the replay but I believe Hare threw to Brown on that post route 3 or 4 times. They sure seemed to be targeting the back up safety

The fact that is took so long for "Carey and staff" to figure that out after a 1-11 CAL team threw for 300yds is a problem...

RE: Drew Hare is our Qb
I don't understand what more Drew has to do to be named the unquestioned No. 1 QB. We were gawd-awful as an offense in the first half, then Drew led our offense to 23 points! I also think Drew will get better and better. He certainly wasn't as prepared as he's going to be with more reps and game experience. For our coaches to limit that by rotating our QBs would be coaching malpractice. I supported their decision to start Mac even though I envisioned the offense being better with Hare but if Hare is rolling and they rotate the QB, it would be idiotic. If it costs us a game like it cost Toledo against us, Lawd help us!!!!

Clearly you are more qualified than "Carey and staff". If I were you, I would give my resume to Sean Frazier and share your observations.

What are you talking about? It was totally his fault. They were trying to run a screen and Hare held on to the ball for forever and had no idea anybody was coming from behind.

Meanwhile, Carey is 3-0 against the Big Ten, 14-3 overall, and 14-0 in the regular season and all everyone does is ***** about him.

So dumb.
Completely agree.

You want "one thing"? I'll tell you what Hare needs to do. He needs to enroll in Don Beebe's House of Speed and learn how to run faster. Hare lumbered him way to some plays on his feet - no doubt. But that guy looks like he's running in mud. Need faster feet. That would be my focus in the off season. Speed and agility training.

Passing yards don't mean much in this day and age. That same Cal team threw for 371 against Ohio St last year.

Seriously? I know you're obsessed with Aurora Christian/Beebe/etc. but give me a break. I wish Jay Cutler ran a 4.40 but he doesn't. Maddie will probably never be the featured QB at NIU...get over it.

Are you suggesting Hare does not need to improve his agility/speed? Go to which ever speed camps makes the most sense. Just get there.

The QB race should be over. Anyone that can't see that, that includes you Coach Carey, should have their heads examined. Hare is a gamer, hard-nosed football player. Give him the job!!!

Not that I disagree with how well Hare played, but what was the reasoning behind taking Maddie out after he drove us down the field?

Yeah, that weird to me too. My only explanation would be maybe the saw something on film that they thought they could expose through the air and they wanted the best passer in there.

I think anybody sitting here and saying Hare (or anybody) is/should be the guy at this point is mistaken. I would be shocked if you don't see more than 1 QB again next week. Hare probably starts, Maddie comes in 2nd would be my guess.

They scored 23 points in the second half and the potential of the offense is astounding with Hare playing to the best of his ability. That's up to the coaches. Hare has a gunslinger mentality and that pass to Brown is the best throw I've ever witnessed from an NIU QB. Will hare struggle at one point? Probably when the defenses break him down. But that's up to the coaches to stay a step ahead our opposition. This game should have been a blown out but we had absolutely nothing on offense in the first half. Hare should get every meaningful snap. I would hate to see us rolling on offense and have Carey rotate QBs just because. We found a gamer we need to stick with him. I don't want the same thing to happen to Hare that happened to Chandler (even though injury played a role) his sophomore and early junior years. Let's give Drew all the support and opportunity to have a great career starting today.
Maddie came in and led a 14 play drive, that probably would have ended up in the endzone if Ducee didn't drop a 2nd down pass. It's far from over no matter how much you or anyone else wants it to be.

I love how Hare played, but yeah I agree. I still think there's room for Maddie to take the spot if his performance wasn't a one time deal.

We find a guy that's going to march us up and down the field and give us a legitimate shot at beating ranked teams and some people would rather see more competition? Okay, I'd be fine with that. I just hope it doesn't cost us a game.

Let's give McIntosh more opportunities as well since he played so well against Presbyterian... Can we get Root back in the mix as well? More the merrier. It's week 3 isn't it? Let's just start all over to make sure the process was fair.

Based off what, one half? Again, after last week everyone wanted McIntosh to be the guy. Now, it's Hare. Maybe next week it'll be Maddie!

Look at NIU's schedule. Really the only conference game I would say they have ANY chance at all of losing until November is CMU at home, and losing to CMU at home would be a major upset.

November 5th NIU starts a stretch of @ Ball State, Toledo, and then @ Ohio and @WMU and hopefully the MAC Championship.

I would like them to have a QB figured out going into that stretch.

It's not that I want competition, it's that I still believe that Maddie could be the guy... Maddie, too, was able to drive us down the field, but Carry pulled him. All I'm saying is that I think it's possible that Maddie ends up with the job if he stays consistent. Then again, if Hare stays consistent, too, then Carey will more than likely give him first priority.

We won the f-cking game. Period. If Carey wants to use 6 QBs and we win every game, I'll happily take it.

RE: Drew Hare is our Qb
You're right. It was only one half. Let's forget that it never happened and open up the competition so everyone can have a shot to win it. Let's give Mac another shot and bring Root up to speed with the first team so no one knows who's going to start. Let's make sure TLL and Da'Ron have no idea who'll be getting them the ball. Let's ask da'Ron who he wants...
