He's not half bad as a color announcer.

He will do well in that regard. Man knows defensive football.

He knows all 3 phases. He wasn't necessarily good at calling offense but he knows it. You can't know defense if you don't know the way offenses work. Mickey will do great in this role.

He also gave a heck of an interview with our radio guys during the rain delay.

Oh, BTW, during that interview Matthews said moving to FBS was the right move.

I'm sure he was referring to App St but by doing so also inferring that JMU made a mistake by staying in the lowly FCS.

I hear you, but who knows what he truly thought or said behind closed doors to the admin.

Love listening to him do the color. He just needs a little practice speaking into the mic. Sometimes his voice tails off.

He was saying App made the right move, but it was after an entire conversation on how similar the two schools and programs are/were. He said that FCS was fun, but if you go 7-5 in FBS you go to a bowl. If you go 7-5 in FBS you are fired.

well good thing he went 6-5, 6-5, 8-5, 7-4, and 6-6. Only one of those years exceeded that criteria.

He also told the story about how he reamed the NCAA after the playoffs were announced in 2007. Then he called Jerry and Jerry told him that he reamed out the NCAA before he knew that Mickey did as well. Mickey called and apologized to the NCAA guy the next day.

And yes he said daggumit.
