Lehigh has been a strong program recently, and this was a solid win on the road.

Congratulations and best of luck moving forward......I think you will end up better than preseason polls predicted.

"Moving forward," a contemporary buzz phrase I hate even more than I hate ODU.

All of us are "moving forward" through time and space. None of us are moving backward. Thus, pointless/redundant language.

I promise not to harp on pointless/redundant language going "forward." Please "forward" all complaints and comments to:

This Bulldog post is bump-worthy 03-lmfao

But, it appears Smitty came with no ill intent. And he's correct, this was a good road win. I haven't looked, where was Lehigh in any preseason rankings? Anywhere? "Receiving votes" or any of that?

I think anyone, can easily find five or more who should not have been ahead of either us or Lehigh prior to the season beginning. As has been stated by many, these preseason polls are meaningless, except you know whether you have earned RESPECT. That's why I get so upset when I see it come out, we have lost the respect we captured back in 2004 - 2008.

Thanks BP. And I agree. Between the RB Sodakeg (yea stole that from someone here) and their QB, Shafnisky (sp?), incidentally named Patriot League POW in a LOSS! they are going to beat a lot of teams.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were to move up in the votes despite the outcome if, BIG IF, the voters actually watch games or clips instead of simply going by W's and L's. They're going to be a tough out for nearly anyone, I'd bet.

Given Fordham's performance at Nova, Lehigh could very well be the odds-on fave to with the Pat-League in a few weeks. May know more about that when Colgate visits UD on Saturday.

Replying to my own thread...

Meaning no disrespect to Furman, but they were challenged in both of their wins. Gardner Webb 13 -3 and Mercer 25 - 20. Yet they started the season 18th in the coaches poll, moved to 17th last week and now 12th. Clearly they have someone in their corner doing the voting. In other words they have respect and we got to go get us some.

RE: Lehigh in-game....
Looking at Lehigh's schedule I noticed they play their rivalry game against Lafayette the last game of the season in Yankee Stadium.

The 2 schools are roughly 20 minutes apart and this will be their 150th meeting. Pretty amazing.

You are correct, lots of tradition. This Lafayette game is, on a smaller scale, like the Army/Navy game.

I have often wondered why these two were not on our schedule more often. Have we ever played Lafayette? These two teams should replace St. Fran, CCSU, Morehead, Alcorn, NC Central, etc.

I really don't mind a deal with Liberty either. Anybody heard any more about us playing the final game of the Liberty contract or are we letting them out of it and just pi$$ing that money away? That's like throwing $75K in the ocean as I believe that is what we are playing those teams mentioned in my first paragraph (only hearsay regarding what we pay).

They play @ W&M 9/20 and have a series going.
2012 Lafayette 17, @ W&M 14
2013 W&M 34, @ Lafayette 6

I think JMU most JMU I-AA OOC should be in state. You have Liberty, VMI, NSU, HU. At least 1 of the 2 I-AA OOC in 11 game seasons, and 2 of the 3 in 12 game seasons (while maintaining 6 games at home). Liberty would have to be 1 for 1s, but the other 3 should be able to do at least 2 for 1s..

We're 0-2 against Lafayette.
