The walk to the shuttle bus was enjoyable as they commented on the well played game. Several were wondering were their defense was as they were unable to stop us and I said that we have a much improved offense and it seemed to be firing on all cylinders.
They asked about this Martin guy to which I said I sure wish he were here as Hundley would have been pressured even more and their running game would have been impacted to a greater extent I thought.
Like I said when we tied the game at 35 - 35 there was stunned silence.............

You could just about hear crickets on the TV after a loud gasp left the stadium form UCLA fans when Memphis scored on the interception. My house on the other hand was about to have the roof blown off from the eruption cheers! 04-cheers

Don't bet on it.

Texas is garbage. I know they were missing their QB, but they still gave up 41 to BYU at home, can't blame that on the lack of a QB.

Texas is supposed to be elite ... you can't recruit a back up QB?

I probably will bet on it ... depends on the line of course.

Well don't bet the farm. The Texas coaching job is elite and one to be kept. Another beating like BYU and he knows that nameplate on his door is hanging by Velcro. I I never support Texas but I wouldn't bet either way on this, but "destroy" Texas; that won't happen.

I remember some folks came on this board last week complaining that our AD was so stupid as to schedule this game with such a powerhouse and stifle the teams' self esteem. Instead he ought to be lauded and applauded.

I agree with that. You can't beat them if you don't play them. As long as we don't over schedule, we should be playing a big time OOC every year. Or at least every two years.

Have to wonder what the mindset would have been if we had not of missed that FG and we were going in for a win late instead of just a tie.

We have a shot to win all the rest of them. Is 9-3 possible?

My previous comment was deleted for some reason. Your comment about Memphis not winning at OM or Cincy is a completely ignorant statement. Care to discuss?

Rain4,

You need to check your tone.

Dude predicts 9-3 and you want to whip out your e-peen?

Lol at you, fool.

Do not read too much into a single game. It was clear that UCLA was over looking us and focusing on Texas. We played with a lot of emotion. We have to wait to see if we spent all of our emotions on a single game or if we are able to continue to play near the same level. It is still scored on the right hand side of the ledger. We will see what effect it had on team when we play in two weeks. If we cannot get up for MTSU then we gained nothing from a close game at UCLA but just another loss.

Sustained performance for the rest of the season is a legitimate request. That UCLA overlooked us is pure speculation. At present, I do not choose to doubt our resolve and coached up-edness. Maybe we're that good, eh?

I don't need to do jack crap. Just didn't think it was necessary to immediately come on here after such a hard fought battle and valiant effort and proclaim we won't win at OM or Cincy. Why do that? Now run along and go enjoy your good coffee there buddy

From a view in the stands I thought UCLA appeared both quicker & stronger early but I thought we were better conditioned & things evened out as the game progressed. I thought the UCLA front on defense became less active in the 2nd half until the game was really on the line midway through the 4th but our offensive execution was not as sharp late either. In defense of our QB & offensive line, UCLA was sending the house in the last series. Good game, we fought hard & with a break or two, maybe a few less penalties & the result might have been in our favor.

Ucla is fast fast fast and I think our tenacity shocked them and we won the mental battle. I just wish ifeti had played. Could have changed a few things as ucla wanted desperately to attack our edges and having to focus their offensive line blocking a bit more to the middle could have made a difference
