RE: I guess Lehigh players can talk to the press.....
what part of the last 2.5 years makes you think we're going anywhere in the foreseeable future (i'm talking within 10 years)? We're FCS and will be for a long time. The door is closed and in fact, it's not even a door. it's a concrete wall and you're trying to get in with a toothpick.

with that being said, we're fcs. so what is our goal as an fcs program? Winning a national title. how do you do that? getting into the playoffs. What keeps you from the playoffs? a lot of losses. What are FBS games? losses 19 out of 23 attempts thus far in our program's history.

You want to gamble on a 17% likelihood?

What part of I don't care about FCS playoffs is not understood? Meaningless to me.

We did not hire Withers to stay in FCS. We didn't have the Carr Report done to stay in FCS. There have been public statements by the leadership that we want to move to FBS. Could there be more that is done on this FBS front, yes. I'm not content with having our program defined by being in FCS for an extended period. I want to see us make our program one that is wanted by the MAC, AAC or CUSA and you do that by beating those programs and selling out at home. You do that by bringing in NDSU. You do that by planning to build out BFS and to build an indoor practice facility. You have the same fund raising goals for these items like we do for the Convo. I believe we can win 8-10 games a year with my plan. If that puts us in FBS by 2016, 2017 or 2018, great. Do I want to be in FBS ASAP, yes. Will it happen in 2015, I don't know. That being said, let's make plans like it's going to happen and start acting like it's going to happen now.

If JMU makes the playoffs in any season, are going to have numerous wins a lot better than Morehead & CCSU..

Sucks because moving up is strictly a business decision. I really dont know how Georgia state moved up so fast , and i havent heard anything from South Alabama. I don't want to be an irrelevant FBS program. But im willing to wait and see.

I agree. Our goal is FBS and we need to audition and make ourselves attractive. If we get to the playoffs or win another NC, so be it but our long term strategy shouldn't be to gear everything we do toward the FCS any longer. We should build an indoor practice facility. We should have a plan to finish BFS. We will get the other mid major conferences to take notice and more importantly, our fans and alums will take notice that we are preparing for the next phase of our national life.

None of that stuff if going to happen until after a moveup announcement is made. And you don't need to be scheduling 2 I-A games a season in order to make a moveup announcement. UMass, App State, GSU, ODuh, etc weren't doing it. After the moveup announcement is made you can schedule all the I-A games you want.

On an 11 game season (which most seasons are), you're not likely to win 8-10 by playing 2 I-A, a quality I-AA OOC, and a CAA schedule. And that quality I-AA OOC you will likely have to do a 1 for 1 or a 2 for 1. So on an 11 game schedule that will leave you with only 4-5 home games. Anything less than 6 home games should be unacceptable.

You are speaking my game. I would think a big payday from a bcs team and a smaller payday from an Appy would fly. Then a Lehigh type game where we schedule the away game only during the 12 game seasons. A descent team like Lehigh will not sign a deal that doesn't get them at least one game at home, no matter what Dukeman wants. We will not be paying that kind of money. That's why I said a 2 for 1 with a little cash.

You left off the part about forget about making the playoffs..

Not necessarily. See App State in 2005.
They played LSU and Kansas that year.
Not only did they make the playoffs, but they won the title.
Iron sharpens iron

They finished 7-1 in the So-Con. 6-2 they would have made the playoffs...

Andy Coen comes across as a winey ******* in those articles. Obviously the loss hurt him. Good. I look forward to seeing the Dukes beat the tar out of a Coen coached Lehigh team next season at BFS. Maybe then Coen will decide he really doesn't want to play JMU after all.
