MAC Scheduling for NIU
Now that we are hosting the IHSA state playoffs every other year, and given that the MAC often schedules games the Friday after Thanksgiving. Doesn't it make sense for us to have a home MAC game the years we are not hosting the playoffs and be on the road for the years we are hosting the playoffs?

Example this year we are not hosting the playoffs but are on the road at Western Michigan. Last year we hosted the playoffs but were forced (thank you ESPN) into playing an earlier weeknight game.

To me we need the MAC and our AD to switch the scheduling around for one year so we get back to avoiding scheduling conflicts. Without that this may pose a scheduling conflict in the future.

Exactly. Makes sense. I love those day after Thanksgiving games. It's s fun atmosphere even if not all that well attended. Plus, it's a DAY game in November!

Yes but the MAC is not that smart so...03-shhhh
Also I think the Coaches would rather have the additional weeknight MACtion game on ESPN2 rather than a day after game at 10am on ESPN3.com or at best ESPNU

I would love to see ESPN do a 24 hour football extravaganza.
Can you see Huskie Stadium packed at 6am for the Chips on ESPN?

No no I cant. We cant even pack the stadium at 4pm on Homecoming Saturday unless we are undefeated...why would people show up just because the game is on ESPN?

Young people like to be apart of "special" things. This may not get the older folks to come out, but I bet the east side would be packed. I don't want them to do this the day after Thanksgiving though. The first weekend of college football would be better.

RE: MAC Scheduling for NIU
MAC Scheduling in general doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially when it comes to cross-divisional play. That's left a lot of us, and not just NIU fans, scratching our heads over the past few years.

This year will be the first time NIU has played Miami and Ohio in the regular season since 2009. Ohio hasn't played at Huskie Stadium since 2006.

As a side note, I'm going to make a concerted effort to make it to the Miami game on 10/4 because they're the only MAC team NIU hasn't beaten since this great run started in 2010.

They didn't get out of bed for a Homecoming game at 11am which was billed as the Conference Championship preview. (Temple 2010)

One thing college students don't like to do is wake up at 5 am on Saturday mornings.

Personally I really enjoyed the Friday morning after Thanksgiving game and the crowd was decent. I think they got just as many people there as they would have had they had it at night during Thanksgiving week. The kids go home as soon as they can regardless of football.

Oh yeah, on a nice crisp November morning. Talgating starts at 1 a.m., in the stands before the 6 a.m. kickoff, out of coffee and hot chocolate by 6:15 a.m., and out of hot dogs by 6:30 a.m.

Yep, and lots of people have off that day. There's a holiday feeling in the air.

Usually, I am quite bloated from Thanksgiving the day before. So, I do my part to instigate stadium warming.

Who said it would be November?
How about 1 day in October?
Even October 30th or 31st - Call it the Halloween special!!
Students would dress up.
Have the game start at Midnight. If it gets us on ESPN you do it. Recruiting !!!!!!!!!!

I watched the Basketball games from 3am until 9am when they did that last year.
Did anybody else watch the Huskies vs Valpo?

I remember following the NIU/Valpo game on my computer during my 8am class.
