He was quoted as saying the regular season was just to get ready for the conference tournament. And he's had pretty good success in the SBC tournaments when you compare the women's program against the men's, whose performance has been normally abysmal.

When you think about it, our only NCAA appearance (play in game), was in a year when we had a losing season record. I think there are some coaches who can prepare a team for tournament play better than most. I think some of it is preparing a team in practice, and then allowing them to play loose in the tournament. If your coach is constantly coaching the game from the sideline, it makes it difficult for players to react quickly.

Some people have told me they don't think Steve can coach. I disagree with that. He is a good teacher of fundamentals. But he tends to overcoach during games. Many of you have noticed and commented on that. Plus his substitution patterns are extremely strange at times. That said, he'll have to prove himself to a new AD, unless we do something really stupid like move up someone who is currently in the athletic department who is tied to the same disastrous policies. Have to bring in someone from outside. Otherwise, we'll be in the same s^*%pit we're in now.04-cheers

Doc, I thought about the horror of them promoting one of the assistants/associates to AD, but now I am thinking that the chancellor has finally awoken from his long winter nap(14years), and I'm sure been embarrassed by the recent happenings, and now he will take the high road and hire new blood, and not use the old Chris Peterson method of hiring a head coach by moving him over three feet on the bench. I don't have a problem of rewarding someone deserving of promotion, but a AD of a mid-major needs more seasoning for a job, than an assistant at the same mid-major. Especially when the program hasn't been anymore successful than this one has been.
