Anyone care to talk basketball?
we might be pretty good this year, but there are so many variables, not the least of which are injuries to key players.

I actually think this could be a good team if the players are allowed to play to their strengths and if coach shields could channel a little of coach foley when the players on the court playing.

Lots of upperclassmen. Probably Shields' two best recruiting years now ready to step up. Throw in a sleeper or two and we will be all right.

And yes, I am ready to talk basketball.

RE: Anyone care to talk basketball?
I wonder how many of our current players were recruited by Coach Robert Lee?

What do you think of a front line of White, Woods, and Isom with Gus coming off the bench.

Might be a really good one IF Isom keeps the shot he finished with, and Woods is the real deal. But I would say you will see that combination a good bit.

I will take 2 ooc top 100 rpi wins too.

We have never done it in Steve's time here.

Recognizable wins would be Creighton, siu and minn.

Past that i cant think of any, so 2 would be
Iike going to the moon for the program.

RE: Anyone care to talk basketball?
Personally, I want a style of basketball that is fun to watch. Certainly I want to win the conference and the tournament every year, but so does every other team in the league, so our odds or what, 13-1 or however many teams we have in the league. We've had so many changes, I haven't checked to see how many we have now. Most fun game I have watched in the past eleven or twelve years was the one Big Joe coached while Steve was suspended. When I was contacted about purchasing tickets this year, while talking to Jonathan, he made an interesting comment. He said that we're competing for the entertainment dollar now, and most casual fans would rather see their team lose 112-110 then win 50-49. Yes defense wins games, but offense puts butts in the seats. And when you start playing a more exciting style, you start to recruit better players and putting more butts in the seats, and some years win more games. Be honest now. If you knew absolutely nothing about basketball but had a choice of watching a team like Georgia State play or a team like UALR, who would you choose? It's not even close. You'd take Ga State. The team winning with an exiting style of play. That's what our new AD needs to address. Demand that style of ball from our coaching staff or change staffs. Simple as that. We can't just go along treading water. We have to start moving. AD change is the first positive step.

When I want to see teams play a 105-100 game I go to Memphis to see the Grizz. I usually go once a year, but I honestly prefer the college game a lot more. Really couldn't care less what the point total is.

When did the Northwestern win happen. That was during Porter's tenure, wasn't it?
