I worked minimum wage jobs when I was young. If you didn't do your job as well as they expected you were fired.

Today I see very poor service in many fast food and service jobs and it seems that there are few consequences. I hear people in long slow lines mumbling how pissed they are while lamenting, "THIS IS THE BEST WE CAN EXPECT."

This is pretty much how many of you view the Gazette. You know it's a piece of garbage compared to what it once was, but you accept it as "ALL WE CAN EXPECT."

The business model they use is childish. It's National Enquire'ish. They're playing you. If you want something better don't comment on their articles, don't join their live chats, don't link their articles. don't contribute to their traffic. This sorry azz excuse for journalism has to go before we'll ever get something better to replace it.

Commenting on what Dip said.

I do believe the athletic dept and SID have a strong influence on those that report on wmu. Mlive, blitz, hustlebelt to name a few. This is nothing new IMO.

The SID is the gatekeeper to the coaches and player. If the coach doesn't want to do an interview he simply has the SID do the dirty work.

The local paper doesn't have the clout it once did. MSU has a dozen different venues including the BTN to use for PR. They don't need the Lansing State Journals seal of approval. The days of Jack Moss breaking the sale of the Tigers are over. Today it would have been tweeted and 500 media outlets would report it.

You have to know who butters your bread in every deal you do in this world. When u don't you'll always pay a price.

You're catching on. She piggy backs because that's the business model. He doesn't have to give DD the cold shoulder for reporting the story, he needs to give him the cold shoulder for printing it three times and counting.

But why is that DDs fault? I guess I'm not understanding your constant attack of DD. My guess is that he would prefer that Julie Mack stick with her Obama love fest articles and in depth coverage of all things liberal.

As for DD we apparently just aren't going to agree on how much he is doing with whatever he is being given or allowed. My guess is that he has to pick and choose what he actually writes in order to keep from seeming too biased pro or con.

Drew has to know when to let off the gas. Reporting is a balancing act between presenting the news and having access to the news makers.
