Just added to my Bucket List. If one wanted to take a vacation along the whole Pacific Coast Highway in California with reasonable stops all along the coast only, how much time would it take?
2 weeks.

Oh, yeah, don't forget to visit one of the biggest bookstores in the world. Wish I knew the name of it. My brother didn't care for LA, but said it is worth the visit alone just for the bookstore. (Yes, he is a bit "different.")

I'm thinking 2 weeks might be enough to do the whole thing and take time to do it. But it's one of those trips that less miles might be more---whole thing is probably between 9 and 10 hundred miles. Hard to see the sights if you don't stop. Of course I"m partial to the more northern part.
The Redwoods .....you want to spend time there. And there's beaches that only the locals know about where you can spend the day hunting for moonstones (agates). Fun, fun natural wonders stuff.
Here's one that is pretty well known. http://redwoods.info/showrecord.asp?id=1724
Some not so well known: http://www.seecalifornia.com/beaches/del...aches.html

75 might be the temp in Pasadena around 10pm on Saturday. BUT...if you plan to tailgate look for a scorching hot 100 degree afternoon! It'll probably still be in the mid-high 80's at kick off.

I've done highway 1 several times. It's the greatest drive on the planet. Just don't get stuck behind the Winnebago's. Stop at Nepenthe, all the Big Sur area, San Simeon, I think 3 weeks would be more like it.

Jed and Granny are dead, but here's a little known fact about Jethro (Max Baer, Jr.). He attended Christian Brothers High School.
max baer sr was a pretty famous prize fighter...
In June 1933, Baer fought and defeated (by a technical knockout) the German heavyweight Max Schmeling at Yankee Stadium. Baer's trunks displayed an embroidered Star of David,[14] which Baer swore to wear in every bout thereafter. He dominated the rugged fighter from Germany into the tenth round when the referee stopped the match. Because Baer defeated Schmeling, German dictator Adolf Hitler's favorite, and because Baer had a Jewish father, he became popular among Jews, those who identified with Jews, and those who despised the Nazis

It doesn't stop at the CA/Oregon border either. The southern Oregon coastline is spectacular too...Many Northern Californians go up to Brookings and Gold Beach in Oregon because it's sunnier.

That coast all the way to canada is spectacular. The northwest is really stunning.
I do think northern California takes the cake though. The redwoods alone are worth it. It is impossible to explain or understand from pictures.

That would be where OJ's house USED to be. It was purchased and razed and a new house built on that property.

We have done that a few times. Someone in our family owns a little bed and breakfast in San Diego on Coronado. Many times we have flown into San Diego, used to drive up to LA where my sister was attending USC and then go on up Highway 1 to Pebble Beach where my Dad and step mom and other siblings lived.
Going to make that same trip in the fall. I had planned to do that beginning Wednesday but had my shoulder scoped the other day.
Hurt Puppy.
