Russia's plans for Greater Russia
Anyone who is naive enough to think that Putin will be satisfied with the eastern Ukraine and Crimea, should Google Kaliningrad Oblast. This Russian territory that sits on the Baltic Sea, is separated from Mother Russia by Belarus and Lithuania. Currently there is no "free movement" between Russia and Kaliningrad, and this is a burr in Putin's shorts.

So after he takes the Ukraine, his next task will be to drum up "ethnic unrest" so that the tanks can come on a rollin'.

And yesterday, Obama gave Putin tacit approval to retake the Baltic states when he said in a speech at NATO:

Quote:We'll be here for Estonia. We'll be here for Latvia. We'll be here for Lithuania. You lost your independence once before. With NATO, you'll never lose it again.

How do you think that Obama means NATO won't do anything if Putin threatens the Baltic states?? They are some of the most important members of NATO and Obama pretty much said that the US will declare war on Russia if they try any funky business.

Putin will weigh the seriousness of the words against the seriousness of the man who spoke them. Not too difficult to see how that calculation will go.

But I think Russia will find some other solution to that problem, that doesn't involve physical annexation of Lithuanian territory. We'll see.

You're right, invoking cynicism detracts from the initial point that Kaliningrad is a very dangerous location and future flash point.

The rent on Baltic avenue is only like $2 anyway. What do you get with a hotel? $250 ???

I say roll the dice and take a chance. Putin can't Railroad us by Free Parking his tanks everywhere.....We all know the US Marines can advance to go and collect $200 in a single turn. Then Putin will be forced to pay each player $50, plus all those nasty house and hotel repairs...

Wake me when Boardwalk and Park Place are under threat.

I'll be in St. James favoret Place......Marvin's Garden.

Good word, jingoistic. 10 Letter Word.

I wouldn't put anything past Putin. Who is gonna stop him, a coalition of the willing? Nope.
