In my more naive days, I was of the "if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about." Today, (and I say this with the due disgust and disappointment it deserves,) that for the vast, vast majority of Americans you should proceed with caution when dealing with the police.

I don't like any person with a below room temperature IQ who has shiny badge syndrome and a proclivity to abuse their position.
I have the utmost respect for law enforcement but only when it's done properly. When they resort to heavy handed tactics and intimidation like this they lose any expectation of respect.
