Possible opponent for next season?
Saw this story today. Don't know if UC has any schedule flexibility for next season but this could be a great game to put on the schedule if they can.

Mizzou needs some OOC games next season

Same school that has just made noise about discontinuing the practice of playing "non-P5" teams (per McMurphy tweet).

Dont see it happening. We are looking to replace AL A&M on 9/5 but Missouri already has their titanic game vs. Southeast Missouri St booked then

Missouri
09/05 - Southeast Missouri State
09/12 - at Arkansas State

UC
09/05 - Alabama A&M
09/19 - at Miami (OH)
10/03 - Miami (FL)
10/17 - at BYU

F Missouri. Their AD refuses to ever play on the road against a G5 team.

Aren't they playing one this week?

I saw him say something about that, but I guess we'll see. Easier said than done.

It can be done. Play one 1-AA home every year, buy 1 home game against any g5 who will take it, 2 P5 h+h .... gives you 7 home games and some easy wins, no downside for them IMO

He said going forward today. Obviously this week they are at Toledo, and I think they have a game at Memphis still on the calendar (we'll see if they play that).

I say we just don't give in to being G5. Act like we are in the club and maybe no one will notice.

This the direction Mike Slime is taking the P5 schools.
1. Games with G5 schools are to be played on there own networks to avoid giving G5 schools national distribution on ESPN. Watch the number of G5 vs P5 games on conference networks increase.
2. No Home & Home games to be scheduled in the future with G5 schools.
3. No opportunity will be given to G5 schools to play in the final 4 due to SOS.
4. Reducing national TV coverages for G5 schools will hurt recruiting

That is what I see happing

The pie is big enough for everyone. I just can't fathom all the greed.

RE: Possible opponent for next season?
Luckily I believe the conferences and ADs are too shortsighted and greedy to actively work together in any organized manner to exclude the unwashed masses of the G5. It makes a great sound bite for the fans but it mainly political posturing. Someone has to be blamed for going to Toledo so point the finger at the past and predict greatness for the future.

All P5 teams are equal but some are more equal than others. Eliminate the G5 teams and then how long until Iowa State and Indiana are expected to play six of their conference games on the road? We’re all in the Big 10/12/18 but sorry Purdue you stink and OSU and Nebraska lose money every time they visit so prepare to be the designated conference road team for a few years…

I think with the emphasis on SOS it's going to be really hard for a school like Missouri to justify multiple buy games a year against bad teams. I think them putting together a schedule that gives their fans quality home games and a decent nonconference SOS is going to be difficult to do without scheduling the occasional road game at a G5 school.

I agree. The SOS emphasis will serve as a bit of an equalizer (obviously not the complete answer). ADs will have to weigh the consequences of the likelihoods of road losses to P5 teams v road wins over some G5 schools and the impacts each have on their record and SOS. Road wins over anybody ain't easy and hopefully the committee will give that their full consideration.

Losses to any G5 school will kill a cartel school's chance at the playoffs. That's why in the future, strong G5 schools will find it almost impossible to get a true home game on their field. Alabama/Oklahoma/Oregon is not scared to go play at Tulsa/LaTech/Eastern Michigan. But they sure don't want to play at UC/UCF/Boise.

Watch the P5's that do sign home and home's from now on with those strong G5's. They will always play their home game first and then buyout the return trip. Can't afford a G5 loss.

Just to bump. Missouri has already scheduled a home and home with a G5 since we had this discussion (UConn). Unless you are the true power it's going to be hard not to.
