fyi.....

Any attempt by any voter to obtain points for a Mascot by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, by using any automated program, by using any other methods, will void those points for the Mascot and voter may be disqualified as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Submissions generated by script, macro or other automated means are void and will not generate any points for any Mascot."

They had the site rigged so if you used a script it was caught and the points were not counted. That's why several people reported no budge in points.

As I said, show me the script that was used. I can tell you that none worked. The entire contest was set for IP/MAC address registration. You could vote only once every 24 hour period.

Nice try but no cigar. Show me a script that worked. You can't because none did. 07-coffee3

By your own admission, the only reason USF isn't in this time is because they won last time. Not because of cheating as you inferred in your initial post. I know it's hard but be honest. 05-mafia

If we could show you the script, you would not have won!

You could only automate to the point of the limited number of votes per IP address (which I believe was 1, but could have been as high as 10). You also had to enter the CAPTCHA code each time as well..

I work in IT security, the site was not easily fooled by scripts. The ones that would have beaten that would not be used on something so menial as to possibly use their advantage for illegal means.

The truth is lost on them. They prefer their own false musings. I've tried to tell them that such claims were false but, they lack the ability to comprehend even the simplest writings. 07-coffee3

They spent the entire day trying to prove their own false claims. I never said people didn't try to avert the system. I do however, stand by the fact they didn't. 05-nono

MLB, there was no cap per IP, the site said vote as much as you want. Read the last thread link. One guy tried one and it work, then sai he saw how they had it set up. Then got it going. They were listing the vote totals. When they went after montana, one guy ran it over night and added 500k votes to the other team.

The fact is if you read the thread, you'll see they tired a few until they got the right one. They were laughing about it. Then formed a plan, it worked, they won. Everyone was doing it, they just foubd the best way.

The year UC won it there was most definitely a limit based on IP. I'd clear out my cookies (and use a different browser even) only to have the site tell me I'd already voted that day.

They figured out the IP limit, 14,400 votes a day. They set their stuff just under that.

Cool story bro. Sorry but it doesn't work that way. Ask any programmer and they'll explain it to you. A simple redundancy sweep can avoid multiple uses of the same IP/Mac address. Even if you alternate random IP addresses, the Mac address remains. Sorry but, you've fallen for the BS. 04-cheers

You could vote multiple times, a lot, I know, voted every day. They changed the site from when Cinny won, that year you could only vote one time a day. Last year, that was not the case. You still have read past that one post have you......07-coffee3

Ok, you win. Go clean yourself up. It is SOP for them to exclude the reigning champ from the previous year for no reason.

Too funny not to post. For fun, I tracked the last three hours (mountain time), and...

415PM
"mascot_1_total_votes":"952503","mascot_2_total_votes":"1008331"

520PM
"mascot_1_total_votes":"977368","mascot_2_total_votes":"1035820"
615PM
"mascot_1_total_votes":"997228","mascot_2_total_votes":"1204215"
Almost 170K votes in an hour!? GO BULLS!!

I have read them and I call BS. There is only two way's they could pull off this type of a script. 1, they'd have to be standing in the room with the Server running the program, (The Mascot Challenge it's self). The second, I'm not going into as from their own writings, they didn't have access.

They could think they were effecting change but, that's just wishful thinking. There are millions of people on the Internet, many do random things even like voting for the cutest mascot. There is simply no way for them to validate that they were effecting the voting however, there are many ways for the challenge officials to prove they tried.

There has been a moratorium on the voting per person for the past couple years now. It was set to once per 24 hours period. I know for a fact last year you could only vote once per 24 hour period as I was also voting. This was put in place I'm guessing, to stop a few people from acting as if they were an entire fan base. Just a hunch really. 07-coffee3

That's entering the contests. That's not running a script from a single PC as you stated.

You forgot the sales of merchandise. By buying certain items and providing prove of purchase you received 25 points. My little girls have matching USF Bulls dolls. That's 50 points if you're counting. 04-rock

Oh, no way that there were over 5 million votes cast one a day for both of us the week we faced off. If we had that many fans 5+ million combined, we both be in P5 conferences right now. And, you can't tell that their were that many people that actually cared about the mascot challenge to vote. Nor that many that cared about ECU and USF to push the combined vote over 5 million. Come on man.

How many of your fans bought merchandise as I did and sent it in? How many of them bought numerous items and provided receipts one per item for 25 points per item. Then they voted via PC, Twitter, I-Pad etc. It adds up. I'm sure we had help from our conference schools. I know USF had help from BE schools. There was even a thread made to obtain votes on this forum. I'm sure C-USA did the same for ECU. 07-coffee3

I voted like a hundred times a day, and the vote total went up 2 or 3 each time, don't tell me we had 2 or 3 people randomly vote every 3 seconds.

So you're saying that no fan from another C-USA team helped you at all and you have only a dozen or so fans whom entered this contest. Got it. Thanks for clearing that up for me. 01-wingedeagle

Why would CUSA fans help us?01-wingedeagle No way we had hundreds of thousands of people voting for us each day.
