Quote:Bill Clark did a lot more Saturday than become the first UAB coach to win his debut. He gave a starving fan base hope based on results. As opposed to hope based on where he'd worked, whom he'd worked for or empty shut-up-and-admire-my-brilliance rhetoric and attitude.

"He's not a buddy of the board of trustees or a Bobby Petrino wannabe."- Scarbinsky

I don't what some of you think, I like Scarbinsky.

Last time people felt this high was when McGee was hired.

We were pretty high going in to that Troy game. Didn't take long to come back down.

Scarbo follows UAB closely, even though he spends most of his time writing about AU & UA.

I think the guy everybody really needs to hone in on is Roy S. Johnson (@roysj), the new sports director for Alabama Media Group (al.com & connected media). He's not an Alabama native and he literally made his first UAB tweet today after Scarbo's article hit. Follow him on Twitter and send him gentle reminders that we care about good, local coverage.

Scarbo saw first hand how McGee was and is much more candid about him than some media.

Key phrase "when McGee was hired", not after a win.

I thought McGee was a good hire, but I didn't feel 1/10th as good when we hired him compared to how I felt Saturday afternoon. On field/court results always feel better than just hiring a new coach.

I feel better about the coach than I have at any other time.

The game was pretty good as well, but I have enjoyed a few Southern Miss victories over the last few years.

The improvement overall definitely has one feeling pretty good.

You generalized your answer...a better answer would be some people or even most people, definitely not all people.

Scarbo "generalized" the question as well.

Actually I think the last time everyone felt this good was after our first win over USM, during Callawa's run.

Hiring McGee didn't make anybody feel as good as that win. Are you kidding? There was some excitement when McGee was hired but Saturday was freaking awesome.

I think the difference is (as well as the 2009 USM game) was the excitement of a close game and catching lightning in a bottle.

Saturday was different. For one thing, the game stopped being interesting in the 3rd quarter, because Troy was done. For another, there was a palpable feeling that we might be seeing a transformation.

We totally dismantled Troy, in every phase of the game, the way good teams do. No lucky bounces. No timely turnovers. Just a straight up ass-whoopin', like good teams do.
