I've been thinking about this, and I think that Georgia has a shot at upsetting Tech. I know it's a longshot, but here are some of my reasons why I think we can win.
- Home-Court Advantage.
The game is in Athens which gives us a shot at pulling it off. This will be the most packed Stegeman has been all year, so it will be electric.
- Depth
Nobody thought we'd have any depth this year, but suddenly we're one of the deeper teams in the SEC. Steve Newman, Marcus Sikes, Jay McAuley and Corey Gibbs can give Dennis Felton a lot of minutes off the bench to rest our starters.
- Senior Leadership
In Rashad Wright, Damien Wilkins, Chris Daniels and Jonas Hayes, UGA has a strong core of seniors. If it's a tight game in the final few minutes, I feel confident with these guys on the floor.
- Tech is Due For a Loss
GT has played as well as anyone so far this season. This may not be a bad thing for us. You know they have to lose sometime, and UGA would like nothing more than to be the team that hands them their first loss.
- Revenge Factor
We will be gunning for them after we lost 84-79 in Atlanta last year.
Again, it's a longshot, but because of those reasons, I'm optimistic.

The opposite of football is heading your way --> many many fans will be Jackets in that crowd.

Tech goes NINE DEEP with serious ability and minutes.

Elder (JR), Lewis (SR), Schenscher (JR), Bynum (JR), McHenry (JR), Muhammad (JR), Brooks (SR), Moore (SR)
Upperclassmen dominate the entire team. Lewis hit a 3 at the buzzer to hand Virginia its only home loss last year.

The law of averages gives a much bigger nod to WF, Duke, and UNC.

Why yes, many of the basketball team members watched the football game and our for some revenge of their own.

Wright, Hayes, Stukes, Daniels, Wilkins, Gibbs, Sikes, McAuley and Newman. That's nine, too.

We're the ones pulling in an average of about 8500 per game this year, with 5 straight sellouts. UGA's been averaging about 2000 less.
Says here we are averaging around 7500

Hey GDawgs 5 of those 9 are freshman.
Newman? HAHA..he's awful. Isn't McAuley a walk-on?
Oh yeah, you might want to take Damian Wilkins off that list. Telep called him the biggest bust he's ever seen.
If you really think your depth has the talent we do, you're crazy.
Our 9th guy, Robert Brooks, is better than 6 of your nine. Your team has NO depth. Well, talented depth.

David Nelson 2004: Putting up mercy points to the delight of Tech fans. Coming to a Stegeman near year.

First of all, I never said that we had more talent coming off the bench than Tech. I was just trying to say that we have enough guys to come off the bench and give us some decent minutes to keep up with Tech.
Newman stinks? I don't think so.
Wilkins the biggest bust ever? He's over-rated, but not that much.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Buzz Wehunt, too. That's 10 guys that can play.

You know, we suck. If we lose, so what? Tech gloating about winning would show how truely sad they are to gloat about a team as bas as ours. But, if we somehow make it close or even win, it would show how over-rated (as usual) they are....so dont sweat the game. We win either way
