Hey we picked up some votes from last! Maybe here is a benefit from sitting on the sidelines after all.

Can't lose if you don't play! If we just sit out the season, we should make the Top 25!

RE: AP Poll - 09.02.14
BYU cannot take the G5 spot away from us. However, they can still receive an "at-large" for an access bowl from a P5 school if the Playoff Committee deems them worthy. Frankly I think the odds of that happening are slim.

RE: AP Poll - 09.02.14
What poll do they use to determine the G5 representative in the access bowl? Do they they use the Human polls(AP & Coaches) or some computer rankings?

Highest ranked G5 champion from AP/Coaches Poll.

?????? I have absolutely no idea where you got this information. My understanding is that the committee selects the highest-ranked champion from the five conferences without New Year’s bowl contracts based upon their own rankings.

Quote:Voting Procedures

The committee will rank the top 25 teams in the country and assign teams to the semifinals and to the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach Bowls in years when they are not hosting semifinal games. The full voting protocol is attached to this release, but in summary the committee will identify small groups of teams that will then be evaluated against each other in a detailed and deliberative manner. The committee will then vote the teams into the rankings in a combined selection-and-seeding process.

You can read all about it here.

RE: AP Poll - 09.02.14
What conferences will get guaranteed slots in one of the CFP bowls?

The champions of the five conferences (ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12) with contract bowls are guaranteed spots in one of the CFP bowls. A sixth spot will be guaranteed to the highest-ranked champion from the other "Group of Five" conferences: American, Mountain West, Mid-American, Sun Belt and Conference USA. These conferences had to have access to the CFP and the simplest way to do it was to guarantee a slot to the best team from that group of five.

"We thought it was important to have that automatic access in order to help those conferences stay strong," Hancock said.

RE: AP Poll - 09.02.14
All this just goes to show that the University of Cincinnati is the MOST valuable "brand name" in this Conference. People pick out UC...having yet to play a single down of FB this season...over Temple, ECU, Memphis, Tulsa, and USF, all of whom have a "win" already in their books.

It is ALL about perception. And UC is (rightly) perceived as being the class of this conference.
