RE: Mac Named Starting QB
Hare only gets in the game if it's out of hand for either team. He won't see the field if it's close.

Maddie has a better chance if they want to run some designed qb draws, like when they would bring Lynch in for 1-2 plays to give Harnish a breather.

I never liked those. When Lynch was in we always ran it. We were basically telegraphing our next play to the defense when we did that.

We ran unbalanced, so even if it's predictable, it can't be stopped if it's executed.

It ain't trickery. It's just math.
Yeah, I would say 90% of the time last year when it was third and short and NIU lined up with a RB a step in front of Lynch in the gun you knew it was going to be QB power. It's not like you can just leave guys literally uncovered, so it becomes a number game. NIU's offense doesn't have a lot of deception in it to begin with.

Maddie is more speed than power, but yeah I wouldn't be against it to save some hits on McIntosh.

I guess Bass isn't in the two deep as of today. Really hope he can play Saturday. JB is good for big plays and turnovers, solid leader. I know LB has the most depth, but he's arguably the best defender NIU has.

Where did you see the two deep at? I'd like to take look at it.

This was tweeted by huskiewire. They release it with the game notes. I doubt any changes besides QB on that two deep from last week, check niuhuskies.com for last weeks notes.

Generally, I wouldn't look to the 2 deep to give you much news about who is playing once the season starts. You'll generally see it with your own eyes before it shows up on the 2 deep. Not saying Bass is playing, but I wouldn't say he's not because of the 2 deep.

HuskieWire also tweeted there wasn't a starter listed on the 2 deep, so yeah.

Save for the 2012 GMAC Bowl but I do agree.

Exactly I am not convinced one bit that McIntosh plays this whole game.

The QB who has the most success throwing the deep ball because that is where NU is the weakest. Cats do well covering shorter routes and crossing routes but deep sideline or post routes are where NIU should look

RE: Mac Named Starting QB
The coaches chose Mac so there really shouldn't be any more clamor for Hare or Maddie. Mac should play every meaningful snap until he shows the coaches made a mistake. If that's the case the next guy should get every meaningful snap. I really hope that's what happens. Not that I'm against using some form of wildcat with Maddie. I really hope Mac is given every opportunity to succeed. I really think he should have played a lot more against Presby, but I hope that doesn't have any effect against NW.

I agree with 7.

Use Maddie in 4th quarter when NIU is up by 2-3 scores to eliminate unnecessary injury to Mac. Let Maddie burn clock and entertain us by running it all over the damn place. Serves several purposes.

RE: Mac Named Starting QB
I expect McIntosh to play well. He did not have to keep the ball and run much because the oline and runningbacks were moving the chains. Against NW he will run more to give the defense different looks. If Mac was in there the whole game against the blue hose, we would have put up way more that 55 points.

Having said that, this will be a good test for him or either of the other two if they play.

RE: Mac Named Starting QB
HuskieWire just posted a video interview with McIntosh, and he said he took all the reps with the 1s yesterday in practice. I think that should put to bed any thought of Hare getting playing time Saturday, assuming McIntosh plays well.
