The ratings were down from last year for the ACC Monday night game and for the ACC Saturday night game. However, I think the main story here is that the ACC gets good football ratings when it has good matchups to show on TV. The ACC need better out of conference scheduling. Even lowly U.Va. got fairly good ratings for its game with UCLA.

No, not really. It needs better in-conference scheduling. You know, to increase the frequency schools play each other so that some of the better matchups happen more frequently than once every 6 years.

Better OOC than FSU/OSU, Clem/UGA, UVA/UCLA, VT/OSU, etc? No.

RE: Week 1 - TV Ratings
Equivalent games from last year.

4.8 rating ABC Sat 8:00 PM Georgia vs Clemson
3.0 rating ESPN Sat 5:30 PM Alabama vs Virginia Tech
2.9 rating ESPN Mon 8:00 PM FSU vs Pittsburgh
2.7 rating ESPN Sat 1:00 PM Rice vs Texas A&M
2.4 rating ABC Sat 3:30 PM Syracuse-PSU/Miss.St-OK St
1.9 rating ESPN Sat 9:00 PM LSU vs TCU

I count the total ratings points as higher this year (18.0 vs. 17.7), but the total ratings points for the four windows involving ACC schools did drop (11.4 vs. 13.1).

RE: Week 1 - TV Ratings
I'm impressed that Miami vs Louisville beat out Georgia vs Clemson. Louisville and Miami weren't ranked either, I imagine if they were the ratings would've been up to about a 3.3. Last years Monday game had a highly ranked FSU team.
