BTW, when he leaves my money is on Miss. State.

And that's why Cajun fans root for State. 04-cheers

Likely scenario.....

Florida fires coach.

Florida hires coach from Mississippi State

Mississippi State hires coach from Louisiana.

I wouldn't be surprised by this one bit.

Although, it is possible that Florida jumps straight to Hud since Dan has proven to be only acceptable at Miss. State.

We've had this talk before, UL has a shot at trying to keep a coach in Lafayette against the likes of a basement dweller SEC program with unrealistic expectations and poor career prospects, if only just a chance. It certainly has no chance at keeping a coach at home against the likes of Florida.

The new contract is for $6.45 million over six years ($1.075 per year average).

That's pretty good. It's obviously going to take a better offer then that for him to go, and when he does, there will be a lot more pressure on him. At ULL he could go 9-3 every season and be a hero, as any G5 coach would be. Unless it is his dream job, one of the major jobs out there, he could just spend the rest of his career at ULL.

That is kind of what we talked about last time this came up.

A safe job for half the money or a shot at the SEC, MSU most likely.

MSU can pay him more, but can they pay him enough to overcome the risk involved in taking over a job that is a coaching graveyard?

If Florida calls then none of that applies of course.

I will say this. If he has to leave, after this season will be a good time for it to happen.

The RCAF is securely in place.
The Master Plan is underway and on schedule.
We've proven we will pay.
Hud's proven you can win and win big here.
We are losing several senior starters, including QB and RB. Losses next season are expected. New coach will have breathing room.

Aside from major P5 schools, this will be the most wanted job in the country. We will be fine.

He ain't interested in just any P5 job, it has to be one that: A) He has a chance to win a national championship a legitimate chance, and B) One that he fits well into the culture of the school and fan base.

The RCAF Annual Fund is securely in place...RCAF has not been officially separated from the UL Endowment into a 501C. And a full time RCAF fundraiser is not in place.
