RE: Scarbinsky Interview on the Opening Drive
For what it's worth, the game this past Saturday was the first UAB home football game I have attended since the Hail Mary win vs. Troy in 2010. The reason I skipped the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons was partially due to financial issues, but also due to the feeling of not getting my money's worth for the investment in tickets. I did not feel like Callaway or McGee were capable of turning UAB football around, so I saved my money and stayed home and watch UAB games on TV.

This season, I don't really have the cash for season tickets, but I am buying tickets 1 game at a time. I already purchased tickets for the Alabama A&M game Saturday night as soon as I got back home from the Troy game.

Bill Clark is putting a team on the field that makes me not want to miss a single home game and the $15 tickets have made it much less of a strain on my budget... you can call me a bandwagoner if you want to, but it's more complicated than that... I would have attended every lousy UAB football game the past 3 seasons if I could have afforded it.

Great post. I love having any and all fans, even Bama and AU fans, people who leave early........it doesn't matter. I'd rather have people for a half, than not at all. Coach Clark is putting an entertaining product on the field!

Also, sometimes kids & family need to come first.
I dropped my season tickets in basketball for that same reason.

I dont necessarily condone it but you can usually find scalpers and get tickets in the $5-7 range.

RE: Scarbinsky Interview on the Opening Drive
Thanks, guys! I just hope the tickets stay at or below $20.

When the tickets were $30/each, it was hard for me to cough up $98 (including $8 for parking) for my family of 3 to attend a UAB game, especially when money was already tight for us. This past Saturday, I probably spent $98 on bottled water, but at least the tickets were affordable. Hopefully it will cool off a little bit before the next game.

If I EVER miss another UAB football home game it will be because of a funeral or illness. I used to never miss UAB football games during the Watson Brown era... From 1996 through 2003, the only time I missed a home game was the weekend my daughter was born (October 11, 2003 Cincinnati game). After that, I started to miss games because I had a young child and also because my wife had to work every other weekend. I miss those days when I never missed a game, but I look forward to starting a new streak of home games attended.

I missed games because my kids played soccer when they were little and sometimes it was just a hell of a hassle to get them to their games and then get me to Legion Field.

Now, having one of said kids in the marching band is actually a greater inducement to go. Hell, I can even get mama to the games with her little chickling on the field. 03-lol

Speaking of soccer... My daughter plays Upward Soccer in Gardendale and I sure was relieved to find out that none of her soccer games conflict with UAB home games! :-)

There are only 2 Saturdays with one of her soccer games followed by a UAB home game and the times are 11:00 AM (soccer) and 2:30 PM (UAB football). It may be a hassle to get from the soccer game to the UAB football game, but it will be worth it! :-)
