MAC announces Week One Football Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week: Western Michigan RB Jarvion Franklin
Freshman running back Jarvion Franklin (Tinley Park, Ill.) in his first collegiate game had the second-best debut for a running back in Western Michigan history with 163 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns in a 43-34 loss at Purdue. Franklin ran in touchdowns from five, 26 and 61 yards. His three touchdowns tied him for second in the country in rushing touchdowns and his 163 yards on the ground were the most in the MAC, and the third-most by a freshman on the weekend nationally.

It seems like forever since we've had a really effective running back. Franklin was really impressive. We want more!

My son's first rocket football game (third grade) is tomorrow morning. They got their uniforms last night, and he is number 31. Good omen!

Awesome. Hoping for a big season from him.

He was an absolute pleasure to watch last weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing him put up 100 yards against Sparty en route to our MAC championship season next year.

BTW, 5 wins this year; 8 next.

Since Purdue is this bad, will Franklin run for another 100 yard game in his career?

52 carries (Bill Cubit = )
7.2 yards per carry. (#3 in the nation with at least his # of attempts)

SIX TOUCHDOWNS. (#3 in the nation...didn't check if the others have only played 2 games)

187 yards per game!!

The guys a beast. I think its gonna help keeping our less than consistent defense off the field if we can grind a few out on the ground.
