Hate to win a game due to injury but it is what it is. He's a great player but if Davis doesn't play does it really make a major difference either way? Despite their loss to A&M, SC is loaded but you gotta feel better about ECU's chances given the fact that SC's secondary was carved to pieces by a 1st time starter.

Mike Davis was the difference in our game against them last year so this would be a huge break for you guys.

I'll take a win over South Carolina even if they only play their 3rd string and Spurrier is getting drunk in the locker room the whole game. We will see what our Pirates are made of this coming game.

It's could be a mind game, they did it last time with Shaw, said he was going to play, the was game time decision, he didn't play. It doesn't matter thou, he is a RB, not a QB. He runs and catches passes, not much changes. A QB however can cause a complete change. Shaw ran well, especially with Lattimore in the backfield, Dillon is a pocket passer. They went from running a pro style with a lot of read option to basically our Air Raide.

If he plays, he plays, if not okay. But, I don't him playing or not changes anything for us.

Texas AM did what I had hoped they would which is beat up on South Carolina, although I wanted the Gamecocks to win the game. Then they would start looking past East Carolina to Georgia and we catch them snoozing.

I don't think Davis playing or not playing means much. Our defense has to keep pressure on Thompson.

Could this be one of those "all the stars aligning" moments.............we shall see.

With or without him USC has a lot of talent. I think our offense can score on them but can we stop them enough? Dylan Thompson is good at the long ball and they have some good receivers. I'm worried our secondary is gonna get torched.

Hopefully Carden has a big day and we can out score them. We can beat them but it will not be easy. They will be fired up after losing to Tex AM.

Before the season I would have guessed that we win this game only one out of 5 or 6 times but now I think we take it 1 out of 3 or 4 times. If in Greenville I would be tempted to say 50/50 at this point.

I know it's NC Central but our D completely shut them down (only TD allowed was a fluke fumble return). Other teams struggled against lesser opponents, particularly defensively. Ruff's improved the D every year since he's been here and look up his stats at Texas Tech as Mike Leach's DC, he did the exact same thing there. We are better this year defensively than last year, no doubt. People during the off season really couldn't understand why many Pirate fans believed that this would be the case because they just looked at the number of returning starters instead of playing time and program evolution.

I honestly attribute it to good coaching and player development, particularly in terms of strength and conditioning. I really believe that Coach Ruff, Riley and Conners (S&C coach) are a great combo together and this year may be the perfect storm. We will certainly know more after Saturday.

RE: South Carolina RB Davis doubtful vs. ECU
They have UGA right after the ECU game. Spurrier will play Davis if he has to, but I would say 3rd or 4th qtr and only if its a one possession game. Spurrier will get a lot of flack for losing to ECU, but he has already tempered expectations witj his earlier comments. Starting 0-2 in the SEC will get him absolutely roasted. Spurrier wants to win, but don't think for a second that he won't shelf Davis for the game and risk losing to ECU in order to have his best offensive weapon healthy for Georgia.
