Week one AAC synopsis
Overall all the AAC had a disappointing week one. The lone bright spot was Temple whipping up on Vandy. Congrats to the owls. I watched A lot of college football games this weekend. Don't measure your year by week one. A lot of teams looked very rusty and need a few games to get into the groove of things.

Tulane vs. Tulsa. - (38-31)the score is not surprising. I predicted Tulane to win but I thought the game would be very close.

Temple vs. Vandy (37-7) Was really pleasantly surprised by this score. Will be interesting to see how the year plays out. Was it a one game fluke due to 7 turnovers? Beating even a lower tier SEC team 37-7 is awesome.

BYU - UConn (35-10) I thought UConn would be a little more competitive. But I can tell by watching the quality of athletes that BYU has that they are a solid program. We need them in the AAC. I hope UConn improves. Thier young coach seemed to be in a little over his head watching the game.

Houston vs. UTSA (27-7) I'm sure Houston fans are really disappointed. I think UTSA is a solid team. They and it seems WKU will give Marshall a run for their money in C-USA. Not sure if Houston is breaking in a new O-line but their D-line looked good. This loss won't sting as much when people realize UTSA is a good team.

UCF vs. Penn State. (26-24) Central Florida has some solid athletes and I put them at the top of the league for now. Had they started with the other QB who is clearly more athletic and poised, I think they would have squeaked out a win. They play Missouri soon. Missouri didn't look sharp so your chances for some nice OOC wins are still there.

Memphis vs. Austin Peay (63-0) It was a weak FCS Team. Still beating ANYONE 63-0 is a positive sign. Hopefully y'all got some kinks worked out and will continue to do well against upcoming quality opponents.

USF vs. WCU. (36-31) I am sure this is not the score Bulls fans had played out in their heads. Taggart is being given a lot of credit as a recruiter for all the talent he is bringing in. It will take a couple more years to completely turn it around. Let's hope he can coach as well as recruit.

ECU - NC Central (52-7) Good news and bad news. we looked awfully rusty at times on offense even for putting up 52 points on a bad opponent. Our defense pitched a shut out. The lone touchdown was on a scoop and score from a fumble. The Defense looked good. My biggest concern is our O-line. If they don't get better it would be a shame because our skill players are sick. 2 names for the future: Anthony Scott and Trevon Brown .

SMU vs Baylor (Currently 38-0) Didn't expect it to be this lopsided. We need SMU to be solid in the west. They have the resources. Fire June? lol

Cincinnati - We will know in 2 weeks. Honestly I feel like your schedule has put you at a real disadvantage at least for the beginning of the year. I think you are a better team than Toledo whom you are opening up with, but they will have a 2 game advantage to get their offense in a rhythm and get the kinks worked out. You will be playing your 1st game in mid-September. May be an advantage later in the conference slate but not now.

There was a good article in USA Today about UTSA.

RE: Week one AAC synopsis
Baylor is a good team. It could have been far worse had Petty not been hurt. The next game against NTSU will be key for the Mustangs to salvage this year. If they stumble up in Denton against more evenly matched talent, then its over.

The talent disparity between SMU's players and Baylor's reminded me of SMUs first years after the Death Penalty. Their DL was in the backfield so quickly the QB never had a chance. Hopefully, its more the dominance of the Bear players rather than the talent deficit of our OL.

RE: Week one AAC synopsis
The scary thing is North Texas offense is awful but their defense looked surprisingly decent against UT. SMU Oline better step it up this week or this will be an awful season.
