Agree with that. CC has enough talent on offense to compete right now but the gaps needing to be closed on defense are big.

And people need to remember that improvement at this point isn't judged on wins and losses.... But unfortunately most don't get that.

Improvements are also based on personnel decisions and player evaluations. Wasting time on Bell at QB does not bode well, IMO.

Except English lost his first game...and the next 17.

It reminded me of English's first game. I did not say it replicated English's first game. Use your degree, son.

Maybe on the defense, but I think this offense and the philosophy behind it are different - fitting the scheme to the players rather than visa-vera. English took a spread team and insisted they run a pro set. I never agreed with that move.

But CC wants a more pass happy offense and inherited a pro set team from English. Ouch.

I think you need more than one game to judge CC as coach. Quite frankly the if the offensive line had played the entire game the way they did the fourth quarter we should have scored many more points. But yes I think we should see CC put a better on the field product by year 3. As far as intangibles are concerned I think CC is light years ahead in terms of management and promotion of the program. He works very hard every day at making this program better, his lack of Div I experience may hurt us this season, but again after season 1 I think he'll move forward. Zero turnovers on offense, better special teams play overall and coming back from behind are all positive points.

I like CC and his approach. As you've posted before: he has a real CEO feel to him. He is not a football coach simply doing recruiting and Xs and Os.

Understands all facets of the enterprise including promotion.

Even though I thought gray turf and "The Factory" was a bit too PRish, I've really come to like it.

The one word I haven't heard mentioned is: BRANDING.

UofM has "The Big House", "Maize and Blue", their distinctive helmets, Wolverines, etc.

Now we have an identity: we have "The Factory", gray turf.

Before that nothing. Some folks didn't even use the word "Eagles" in polite company. Our unis and helmets changed over the year or from game to game.

Nothing worse in college sports than lacking an identity. There are what 125+ FBS team and 350+ basketball teams. Easy to be nameless and ignored.

Like I said, it's based off week to week improvements, and personnel is one of them. Week one is done, we will see if it's a lesson learned come next Saturday

1) Pete Lembo - coached BSU to 6
2) Urban Meyer - Miami U
3) Urban Meyer Utah
4) What are the others?
5) Chuck Martin - Miami ???

I am talking about inheriting a dismal team and getting 6 wins.

WMU's last coach Cubit inherited a 1 win team and had 7 wins in his first season. He ended up being only a little better than average in terms of wins / losses
