I can understand the low turnout at UNC given all the problems the past several years, but what's the problem at UVa? With UCLA coming in they should have had a good crowd. Duke did well.

136K people attended college football in the Research Triangle metro on the same day.

Our brand new Soccer stadium seats 5,300 and over 7,000 showed up for our victory over Maryland. Hope we do the same type thing Mon.04-cheers

We measure attendance by tickets scanned.

It's a wonder to me how NCSU fans keep showing up to watch such lousy football. They deserve better.

Here it is in terms of % capacity

Virginia Tech - 62,722 / 65,632 = 95.6%
North Carolina State - 54,273 / 57,583 = 94.3%
Duke - 31,213 / 33,941 = 92%
Syracuse - 41,189 / 49,262 = 83.6%
Georgia Tech - 45,403 / 55,000 = 82.6%
North Carolina - 51,000 / 63,000 = 81.0%
Virginia - 44,749 / 61,500 = 72.8%
Pittsburgh - 40,549 / 65,050 = 62.3%

I'm pleased to see the VT number. That seems about right, from the looks of the stands when I was there, but I had been told to only expect 50,000 or so.

This is an amazing turnout for Syracuse. Our 2013 average was only 38,277, so topping 40k for our FCS opponent is a sign of good things to come.

We have had great success with Friday night games. I think folks like the atmosphere of a night game better, and there may be some resistance to going to an indoor game on a beautiful fall afternoon.

The remaining home schedule has only P5 opponents, with 4 conference opponents (including FSU and UL) plus UMD OOC. If we build enthusiasm with a win against Central Michigan, we might be able to average 44-45k this year.

Amazing isn't it?

We had our chance in 2002-2004 with the last two years of Rivers but our defense was just not enough and we played ultra conservative in a loss to GT after we had started 8-0 that year. Then came the two one score losses on the last play of the game against Ohio State in 2003 and 2004. Amato never found a QB again until Wilson, but by then he had pissed off too many folks in the WPC. TOB's recruiting was really weak outside of Mike Glennon. He blew it at Clemson in 2010 when he punted instead of going for it and we lost 13-14 or something like that.

In the last 50 years we have only had three coaches who could handle all the aspects of the job - Holtz (left for the NY Jets), Rein, (left for LSU) and Sheridan (retired after the entire athletic program was being gutted in the early 90's. Even with them, each year there would be that one game where our QB would be knocked out of the game (twice at UVa) or someone would kick a miracle 54 yd fg into a 40MPH north wind (PSU), etc. State's just never been two deep and if you are not two deep, you need some luck.

One could question the ability of the State of NC to sustain 5 FBS programs at a level necessary to really compete.

If Duke can breathe life into its football program, there has to be hope for NCSU.

The fact that we got a mediocre crowd for the Delaware game is impressive... Hopefully we continue to win.

Wondering how our opener against FAMU will look. It's looking like there will be a good crowd there... We've sold probably around 32k season tickets by now and single game tickets look relatively sparse given the opponent. I imagine if we beat Louisville there will be some stragglers that come out to the game.

From where I was sitting (south side ((home)) lower bowl), I would have guessed that there were more than 51,000 in the stands. Kenan seats 63,000.

Surprised GT reached 45K. Horrendous ATL traffic (DragonCon, Braves/Marlins, Bama/WV, GT/Wofford). Scorcher day too. Fans arrived late from traffic and left early from heat and threat of weather. I know I found out the hard way my sunscreen is only rated sweatproof for 80 minutes. I'm absolutely blistered farmer tan style.

Makes two of us. I made the mistake of only putting it on once when I went out on Saturday... and now I've got some very beautiful tan lines on my right hand side...
