Don't feel bad. UNT started selling alcohol and had crosstown rival SMU on a Saturday and drew 22K.

Bad weather?

Not to knock my school, but I'm curious how accurate that number is. They didn't scan my ticket, they just ripped the stub off. I will say, the crowd looked good though.

They scanned my ticket at Cajun Field. They probably just go with tickets sold.

Did y'all have bad weather. I thought you were expecting more than that.

Heavy rain was expected for the afternoon. It had rained very heavily on friday afternoon, so the tailgating areas were very soggy. There were some dark clouds and thunder around noon time; but it actually held up OK. I'm sure the threat of bad weather kept a large number of fans from venturing out. Still, I was surprised at the low attendance number.

Do you think we can break 150,000 in combined home game attendance this week?

With USA being a sellout (40k) and Texas State sitting close to a sellout (~30k)... That's a good start. But it looks like Georgia State, Idaho, & Troy are the only home teams this week.

With Troy playing an FCS school, and Idaho's limit at less than 20k... I don't think those three teams combining for 80k.

BCS capacity is 30,008. As of this AM tickets sold were 28,478...including GA tickets. They'll bring in end zone bleachers if there's a demand. They did for TTech.

They won't be bringing in end zone bleachers, as there's really not enough time for them to logistically get it done and seats sold.

I've been going to App games since 1988, and have been a season ticket holder since 1992. Since we instituted scanners, my tickets have been scanned from the east side, west side, press box, whatever. Every. Single. Time.

I know what crowds look like too. It's takes some adjustment to gauge crowds with the new seats in the end zone, the new upper deck, club level and suites, not to mention the grass bank. We had a great crowd at the game.

We have known for years how AppState counts crowds. Season tickets are counted towards attendance as a base number. Single game tickets are counted via scanner along with students. The numbers are added together to come up with the attendance number. I've gotten so frustrated with people on the MMB questioning this that I flat out asked App how they count tickets. It's a good number, and a number that is more accurate than many schools. We don't have a lot of corporate ticket buyers. We have a lot of individuals buying season tickets so we have a better redemption rate on tickets, but sometimes individuals will decide not to show up. I'm fine with counting folks that made the commitment to buy season tickets even if they don't show up.

Why we keep having a discussion on multiple boards by the same people, I will never know.

As long as season tickets are not counted twice I think this is the most ideal way to count attendance outside of using turnstiles but even those are not 100%

Granted we will be the away team, but it looks like GS will probably have 10k+ at the game against GT. Our first allotment of tickets sold out, and the 2nd allotment has almost sold out as well. That and a lot of people have been buying tickets through GT.

I will be in the middle of the GT season ticket area on the 50 yard line, so I should be able to snap a good pic of our section. Will be a crazy atmosphere for sure.
