They're Troy's B team. Troy-Montgomery is coming on strong.

Quote:So if you are behind in facilities what do you do attract quality players? You can sell them on things to do in your town to make up for the lack of facilities. You can't really do that in Troy.
Quite frankly, I'm surprised they recruit anyone to come to Troy and Pike County. What a dump that place is. The last time I drove down there, the passengers in my car started humming the theme from Deliverance when we passed by the first trailer park.

I'd buy that argument, but I've been to Tuscaloosa AND Auburn.

For that matter, what about Mississippi state? Middle of nowhere Mississippi. Who the hell would want to live there for four years???

Reminds me of something Tommy West said, "SEC towns are nice, and all, but not everybody wants to be a catfish farmer."

And now he lives in Murfreesboro. With his coaching record, living in an SEC town will never be an option.

If I had to pick, it would be Columbia SC.

Looking across the national landscape of the major "traditional" football powers, they are nearly all centered in agricultural/rural areas with few in the "big city" urban areas. That left the big cities to be the fertile ground for the NFL due to the paucity of major collegiate football powers within them. They did not invade the big cities until last half of the 20th century when their brand was firmly established and modern highly developed paved roads facilitated travel.. Until then, the colleges had their fans around the cities and the pros had theirs within them.
Only when the AFL with its big money backing began moving into cities like Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas and Boston did the NFL take notice of cities that had D1 football teams.,

Nashville is the only "sec town" I'd want to live in. Columbia kind of reminds me of Birmingham, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad..

Troys game thread is vaguely familiar. Can't be happier for that bunch. As much crap as they've given us- karma has a way.
