Nebraska's AD, Steve Pederson, was in Fayetteville last night and offered the job to Nutt.

Don't know all the details, do know the salary is $1.7 million/year, double of what he's making here right now.

It's known that UA can easily match the offer monetarily, the question around was did Broyles and the BOT decide it was worth it to match Nebraska's offer? All I know on that is BOT member Jim Lindsey (who could match the $1.7 mil by himself) went to Coach Nutt's house later that night on behalf of UA.

If Nutt leaves, and it sounds that way... the message will be simple. Don't come back. As much as we appreciate him bringing UA football out of the doldrums, he's a native son of the state and told us when he was hired this was his 'dream job'. Like Lou Holtz and Ken Hatfield before him, he'll be ostracized from the state if he bolts for Lincoln.

Broyles does have a list of coaches, this is from a VERY reliable source that I have personally that works deep in the ath. dept. The top name on the list seems to be Butch Davis, who's with the Browns right now, and had great success at Miami. He's a native of Springdale and an alum of UA, and from early reports, does show interest if the job is open.

The other names that are quick on the list were Urban Meyer (Utah), and Steve Spurrier. Had USC not won last night, Pete Carroll, who was an asst. coach at UA, would've been on the list.

All of this will come to an end by this evening....just a shocking last 48 hours in Fayetteville.

Believe me - I know how you feel. I personally hope he stays as well, but understand completely how you will feel if he does bolt. 77-0 still brings a smile to my face and I've never felt one way or the the other 'bout OU or aTm.

Good Luck!

Drop a post as soon as you can when you hear something reliable.

Looks like we'll know in about 10 minutes if he stays or goes.
