This black announcer is the worst announcer I have ever heard. He has no idea it's FBS.

UB will hold on to win 38-28 but it's going to be a real long year.

The only thing I'm looking forward to watching is the Licata-Willoughby connection for the next 2 years.

There is a lot of parity out there.

1) Villanova should have beat Syracuse. 2 years in a row of narrow FCS escapes.
2) ND State beat Iowa State
3) South Dakota St was leading Missouri. I bet SD State played Missouri better than many of the in conference competition .

Don't worry UB has two FCS games on the schedule so they have another chance to drop the ball.

RE: Buffalo vs FCS Duquesne
The NEC has a scholarship limit of 40. Even with that the Dukes have had a strong winning tradition, quality coaching, and have beaten full-scholarship FCS teams. So UB made a huge error thinking 21-0 was reason to breath easier. When teams are used to winning they respond much more than downtrodden teams will.

We dominated 3 of 4 quarters but the errors on D in the 3rd made things interesting. We were playing a back-up CB due to a starter being ill, and the Dukes went after him. And he got burned again and again. They couldn't run on us but their QB was able to sling it around for a while (he had offers from UNH, Maine, and walk-on offers at some ACC schools so he's no scrub). So in the 4th UB picked up the pressure, slowed their passing game, then pounded the Dukes with power running to win it.

This game wasn't nearly as stressful as Stony Brook last year. Against SBU we came within a missed FG of losing and played like crap offensively. On Saturday our offense clicked even with new skill players, we controlled the TOP, stuffed their run game, had 1 TO and only 3 penalties. This was the best time to expose defensive weakness with 3 new DB starters.

And after Stony Brook, people were down on Quinn, the season, once again being ranked bottom 3rd of the MAC. We then went on to crush UConn, then drubbed 5 straight MAC squads.

Crushing UCONN last year isnt exactly a feat but I'll give that the Bulls beat an OOC team.

In hindsight for UConn's complete season, that is true. UConn was 0-3, with an odd loss to Towson. But they had a 3 point loss to Michigan where they lead going into the 4th. So no one was sure which UConn would show up. Our D dominated them, and it was a key win considering our 5OT's with an FCS team and losing 8 straight to UConn going back to 2001.

I can't get too down on UB for "struggling" with Duquesne. We've seen it time and time again, these FCS schools can play up to the Mid and lower tier FBS schools. It's not a reach at all. It's like a MAC team playing a Big10 team tough. I mean it happens. It's men against men....just maybe some men run the 40 in 0.5 seconds slower or whatever.

Fact is, you can't take this result and project out what UB will look like against Army, Baylor or any of the MAC opponents.

It happens to teams sometimes when they can't plug a hole in their schedule. UB had such a hole and nobody was available so we bi the bullet.

Nobody is happy about it but White wanted a home game more than a body bag game. If there had been an FBS team up for an early trip to Amherst we would have taken that.

It's hard to know what plays are being called, and who's being substituted in (or not) as well.

There is no transitive property in college football.

That is the point.... You have to play multiple FCS teams because you can't fill the schedule with better or bigger schools.
Granted buffalo is one of the better MAC schools at scheduling, although like EMU they schedule the biggest p5 schools because they were viewed as a guaranteed win. I applaud getting Baylor in your stadium. Teams like NIU have no excuse for playing a bad FCS two middle g5s and a poor p5.

We also had to get a replacement on short notice, that's how we ended up with Presbyterian. Although we were going to play Idaho, which isn't much better - but that's because the previous AD was buddies with somebody from Idaho. Our upcoming schedules will be better (it's about freaking time). This year Arkansas is looking better than last year and will be tough.

No excuse except that it actually takes two signature on a contract to get a great team to a G5 stadium.

I'm sure you're a high power expert at negotiating 1:1 with a front end home games on less the 12 months notice... Maybe you should do it full time for a living.

Buffalo has played their body bag games tight for some number of years.
