PINKHAM the WORST defensive coordinator in the country???
Is Pinkham on the hotseat? Is he responsible at all or are we still in rebuilding mode? in my mind, too many missed tackles and absolutely NO pass rush from our Front 4 is unacceptable. Giving up 43 points to Purdue is too many. And, we have stiff linebackers who can't move. Depending on a 5'9 walk-on to be your Starting middle linebacker is crazy. Hell, he is not Dustin Duclo!

Thoughts?

Who hired OC and DC?

And said OC "was best play-caller (he'd) ever been around" and DC "was best in country"?

Watching the game today... I think that the players were making mistakes... obvious ones... Not sure where that blame should fall... I could see a lack of depth again on the defensive line. The line seemed to wear down and be under-sized most of the game with Ash being the only guy that consistently kept himself in the play. The LB'ers were not in great position most of the game or shot through the wrong holes on the wide runs... Again.. was that on the younger athlete, or the coach... ?

Nobody is on the hot seat after today's game except Zach Terrell.

We need to get our expectations in check. Wow.

We havent had a pass rush since Babin. Even when we had Bishop and Hazel we never got to the QB.

5'10" 300 pound Trevonte Boles got more sacks than anyone since Nowak and Varcadipane, and both were DT's.

We've begged for an edge guy forever. I don't think they come to the MAC.

As Fleck has stated, we are a young team. Now, these are 18 year old Freshman. Their is going to be a lot of bumps, We don't have much depth on the defensive side. Where is Caleb Bailey? Bailey was projected to be a starter, guess that didn't pan out?

I could tell today that anytime they tried to bring some extra pressure, it usually ended up getting picked up and left someone on an island.... turning into a decent Purdue play or run past the pressure... We just dont have the size up front... at this point. We also have to understand that Etling is not a chump QB... He made some huge plays to keep himself up-right... there were some really close calls in the backfield.

Zach Davidson gave us a pretty good pass rush.

Davidson had a pretty good motor, he never stopped. Remember Justin Braska? he was a good situation pass rusher also. Cody Zielenski too, we need players like that who can at least disrupt the pocket.

Pinkham seems to be a little more conservative than I thought we were going to be today... but like I said... when we did bring some pressure from an LB or CB it got picked up easy... I think a couple times we totally sold out and made Etling force a bad throw... Curious as to why we didnt or don't lean on that a little more. However, our problem is RUN DEFENSE... period.

I agree. We never brought a DB on the rush or a delayed blitz by the LBer. Even with good coverage in the secondary, if you have no pressure it's pitch and catch. Happened damn near every 3rd and long. All day to throw.

83 - are you doubting Fleck's judgment ("Pinkham is the best DC in the country!")?

My bad. I forgot, its Purdue. We're suppose to give up 43 points.
