RE: Week 1 Attendance.
Those ticket revenue numbers are for the entire athletic department, not just football, so it's hard to draw a definitive conclusion regarding football income. However, in my average fan's opinion those numbers do indeed give a clear indication of the value that paying customers put on athletics at each university.
Contributions, which are necessary for premium seating at most of our universities aren't included in those numbers and have their own category.
All of us have work to do in our own areas; in attempting to balance budgets while trying to "keep up", on field issues, on court issues, etc. Pointing out inflated attendance at one university that is, at worst, mid-pack in conference ticket revenue seems a bit bizarre to me and something that I have difficulty understanding; especially since we've all got issues to address.

To announce 50% more tickets than were actually there is hilariously shameful.
Again all schools do it but usf abuses it more than anyone.
And this affects you in which way? Bottom line is TICKET REVENUE. Yes it would be great if the buyer showed up to the game but you can't force anyone to attend when there is bad weather and get team is horrible.
But that's the point...its not that every no-show has a ticket they paid for (like at any school). That's why the Tampa writer noted "tickets distributed", which includes paid tickets, univ owned tix, athletic dept owned tix, football program owned tix, free tix, trade-out tix, etc...
By the numbers, it seems that USF has a lot more free/trade out or Univ/Athletic/Dept tix that don't get used than other schools.
Check ticket revenue my friend and once again this affects you in what way?
Ticket Revenue 2013 For Public universities
University of Central Florida 3.9
University of Cincinnati 7.4
University of Connecticut 8.9
East Carolina University 6.9
University of Houston 3.8
University of Memphis 8.3
University of South Florida 6.9
Southern Methodist University
Temple University
Tulane
University of Tulsa
Curious where these figures came from?

I forgot to add the link and didn't explain that those numbers are in $millions, but that's probably self-evident..
Here it is, it's the same one that a variety of folks have used for years to compare budgets. The numbers are distilled from the universities' federal required reporting. Also below is the link to the ed.gov website that has the actual reported numbers. It breaks down individual sports, but it doesn't give ticket revenue separately; so it's difficult to determine anything except most universities at our level report most sports as break even.

This was in one of my comments above, but with all of the info it probably just got lost.......

RE: Week 1 Attendance.
Anyone know a good site for attendance each week? Seems like ESPN and Yahoo removed it this year.
