we usually just break out tailgate again. No sense in fighting traffic and sitting there for 30 minutes.

No doubt. I almost always stay and watch the band do their postgame show to let traffic get moving. I don't care to fight traffic or sit around in it.

The only lot where the traffic flow following a football game makes sense is from C4. We donate enough to park in the lots closer to the stadium but I will take the short, flat walk from C4 to avoid the traffic clusters from the other lots.

Someone said it earlier --- what they do would work if they just stick to a plan, rather than trying to empty all lots ASAP thereby screwing all traffic options from all lots.

I also donate enough to qualify for P Lot but park in C4. Never really crowded and a nice flat 10 minute walk to BFS. Easy entry/egress particularly since we wait till after the postgame MRD performance to leave. Just drive right out to I81.

Yup --- C4 is as easy of an ingress/egress as you are gonna get. It is a Breeze.

C4 also has a huge grass lot that they opened up this year, which no one took advantage of...puts you behind the tennis courts...easy walk to the stadium

Yeah that was a nice option they added, think I parked their once this past season. We always went over there anyway to toss the football around.

Interesting you mention that. I think I saw a dozen or so cars parked on Hillside last year. Thought that would be a more popular area. I do think we had one wet day last year so that may have impacted it also.

Never had a problem leaving any JMU sporting event. I park on Godwin Field lot for Football and B lot next to Convo for Basketball. Always been treated like Royalty with JMU personnel and police. Looking forward to new Convo to get a little bit wider seat for bball games.

I've never had a problem with traffic after football, except for once. Left C4 and decided we wanted to go to University Outpost. Planned to go up Reservoir, turn right on University. But when we got to Carrier drive, the cops sent us back on campus! We were directed all the way across to South Main. And it wasn't just us coming from the game, but any poor soul that happened to turn up University that evening. We were all sent on an impromptu tour of campus

I like C4. In addition to the easy exit, I have never seen more than 5 people in a bathroom line and the line of trees provide a nice extra shady spot. I think the grass addition was a great idea if enough people end up over there. But I have thought about moving up to P or down to Convo just to get a different (read more enthusiastic) atmosphere.

The key is to have skinny kids so you can borrow some space.

I really like the new(er) alleged location for the New Convo. East campus has parking issues and a new deck in close proximity would really help. Traffic congestion would also be lessened if they can design the site so that there is access to the parking deck from both University Blvd and Carrier Dr.

There is some interesting stuff here regarding studies to change the I-81 interchanges for exit 245 and 247. I can see these impacting egress for football and basketball. These are long term projects and are a ways off, but at least it is being evaluated.

Looking at the Exit 245 proposals would think the Days Inn and University Outpost would not like them!!

any more scoops on the convo location?
https://www.google.com/maps/@38.4187706,...a=!3m1!1e3

Is the area near the track now being considered instead of the Rockingham Hall area at the bottom of the map? That is what I hear.
It is certainly more visible from the interstate and it sits on top of a hill.
Perhaps JMU's version of a temple... come worship at the house of basketball.

I'd love to have a problem with traffic after football. Unfortunately that's becoming less and less of a problem.
