ESPN Gameday
They had a ~5 minute "preview" of the Notre Dame game today on the show. They said nothing about Rice and didn't even say the name of ND's opponent a single time. The only time "Rice" actually appeared on the screen is when they showed their schedule. Even then they only discussed some future opponents.

RE: ESPN Gameday
Don't expect ND employed announcers on NBC to give us much mention either, unless we keep things interesting

Before the start of the EPL games on NBCSN today there was a promo for the game. The said "Notre Dame opens the college football season later today and faces Michigan next week."

Yes, I can see how that would be frustrating. One would hope announcers would give equal billing to the programs. Unfortunately, this isn't limited to college football.

Which makes me wonder, if any one of us had the mic, what would be some things we would want to share with the viewers about the program?

I certainly was not expecting equal billing by the ESPN guys. In fact I would have been suprised if they said anything at all about Rice. I was just surprised that we weren't even mentioned as Notre Dame's opponent in a pretty lengthy discussion of Notre Dame's game today. That's how irrelevant we are to them.

Yes, I see your point. I feel this way when I watch a contest involving UT - you have to look at the line score to remind yourself of the opponent. This might be an opportunity for the athletics PR department to put out what others should be saying. And, of course, a chance for the players to take to the gridiron this afternoon and give the announcers something to talk about.

Go Owls!

It doesn't help that our stud receiver isn't available.

Wow -- in order to come up with that sentence, the copywriter almost has to be deliberately trying to avoid mentioning Rice. It's as if there is a sports media style manual that has a list of permitted proper nouns, and we're not on it.
