Hahahaha funny you mention a 59-28 score from last year. Same score that Marshall smoked ECU by.

Yes, that's a coincidence. It also about the same ratio Marshall uses in recruiting... 59 non-qualifiers to 28 qualifiers on their team.07-coffee3

The success of "this weak stick league" is the best chance ECU has of "getting to where it needs to be". The sooner that sinks into the heads of the fans of all AAC schools, the better.

Yeah they had a post once on the cusa board about their non qualifiers. One clever marshall poster said...we only have 8 or 9 per year...i pointed out that would be 32-36 of the total 85 over 4 years, 38 to 39% and the goofs quickly deleted my post. 03-lmfao

I suspect UTSA has sorta the same thing going as a startup..Tons of non qualifiers all becoming seniors at the same time. Which is fine, i mean its legal. Houston still shouldnt have been throughly embarrased and skull drug.

You realize that right? Don't for a second get all high and mighty thinking your better than someone else because something like THIS HAPPENS and Houston gets blown out by a 3 year old team at home. Cut the "we are better than them bs", because when multiple MWC/CUSA losses happen to this league this season, you'll look like less of a douche. I'll all about ECU, and ECU getting to where it needs to be, could care less about the rest of this weak stick league.

great response... until you made your douche comment at the end. ECU was lucky to be invited to this stick league...

RE: Houston fans
I'm not supporting BillyBobby...unfortunately, many ECU fans have their heads in the clouds about how conference re-alignment works.

That being said I only watched Houston's Bowl game last year and was so underwhelmed. I didn't understand why they played so poorly, but maybe it was this coordinator deal. I kind of thought maybe most had overrated Houston going into this season, which at least going by this first game seems to be true.

UTSA was mentioned as a CUSA frontrunner, so in reality they should be and have been looked at on the same level as what Marshall had coming back. I don't see much depth in CUSA, but those two teams are quality teams.

I think this game knocks the expectations of Houston competing for the American title...at least lets hope so. I think its a three horse race with Cincy, UCF and ECU...and I won't be surprised if Temple and Memphis jump right up with Houston in the middle of the league. Hopefully Houston can figure it out and do it quickly, but they have a huge investment in that stadium and they need to perform to fill it.

That was a d!ck thing to say I ll admit it. I take the insult back. I disagree that ECU was lucky getting invited to the AAC though. No more "lucky" than UCF was when they got invited. In fact, UFC and Houston and Tulane were invited only because of market size. ECU got invited due to football program strength. (Winning history, attendance, fan support etc.)

I agree 100%. This league has a chance to develop into a great all sports league. Better than Cusa 1.0 without the non football schools.

For any aggrieved Houston fans who are still reading this, i'd like to
offer some words of comfort. While I didn't see a single play of this game I can tell you that Temple went through some of the same mind-numbing, soul searing pain last year after we lost at home to Fordham and then to Idaho. Many fans questioned whether our newly hired coach Matt Rhule's wasn't just in over his head. As the season limped on, we began to see signs that we should remain hopeful.
I trust that your program's team will learn from this loss and will eventually bounce back to be one of the feared programs in the AAC.

Ok, I'll admit that for ucf, you guys had some things going particularly bright house. Tulane was a market size pick only. A few other recent cusa pickups got in primarily due to that as we'll. I'm used to it. The big east passed over ECU for 20 years because of small market size....

I don’t see how Houston played that crappy in its new stadium….. I saw no emotion or a since of urgency to win the game. Either Houston was over confident or under prepared. Regardless of the reasons, that was an epic embarrassing loss at home because it was the first game in a new stadium against a supposedly very beatable opponent that dominated the game…...
