Has there been any talk about playing at least one game per season in GR? Could be a nice showcase for the NCHC

Why?

wouldn't mind it if WMU played in GR for some NCAA regionals, but I don't want them giving up home games at Lawson to play there

I think it would be great to play Ferris in GR and would be worth giving up a non-conf home game. They can get 6k for one game at Van Andel and I hope they could get a good financial deal out of it. Even with the animosity between the schools in the past, time to throw that out the window for the good of the community and the game.

I wish we had a home/home with ferris every year in non-conf. That rivalry was really getting going at the end of the CCHA

Why? Lawson = 3,667 capacity. VanAndel = 10,834

They did that several years ago. Attendance was not great.

I don't see it working well attendance wise. Lawson is too good of a home ice advantage to give up, I don't like that idea. Plus GR isn't "all that" where a majority of Lunatics are gong to make the trip

The only non-conf Mich school WMU should schedule is Sparty

I don't remember the years. I was there and attendance was low. It has always been low for NCAA regionals too. College hockey is not a big draw in Grand Rapids. Great place to go for hockey but we would take a financial hit.

I don't believe WMU has ever played Ferris at Van Andel. We played scUM once in 98. I know Ferris played ND at least once in a one-off, neutral site game there in 99 because I was there (Aniket Dhadphale was on ND).

Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, as I ment to say Michigan not MSU

From a recruiitng stand point, Michigan is the only in state school I would schedule a NC with. The rest don't matter....

I stand corrected, I was thinking in a one-off scenario, not as the Pepsi tournament.

Common denominator here for bad attendance?

"Friday: Ferris State (8-11-1, 5-9-0 CCHA) vs. Ohio State (4-13-0, 4-8-0 CCHA) 5 p.m. St. Lawrence (4-8-1, 3-3-1 ECAC) vs. Western Michigan (7-7-2, 4-6-2 CCHA), 8 p.m."

We have had 3 or 4 NCAA Regionals in GR. They showcase the premier college hockey programs and attendance has been abysmal each time. I'd love to see that change. But I don't see anyone rushing out to line up more college hockey at Van Andel anytime soon.

The NCAA regionals is a national issue, tbh.They would have been better with the old 6 team format.
