CUSA faces rugged Saturday
Friday was a marvelous start for the retooled and rearmed CUSA with a crunching victory by UTSA over Houston and WKU blasting Bowling Green. But today, it is going to be a tough day. Nevertheless, a good start for CUSA. So glad football season started.

Games against BCS:
FAU @Nebraska
Rice @Notre Dame
Louisiana Tech @Oklahoma
Southern Miss @Mississippi State
North Texas @Texas

Other games:
Marshall @Miami of Ohio
Hampton @ODU
Savannah State @MTU
UTEP @New Mexico

UAB is up 24-10 against Troy at the half. Troy is probably the third best Belt team. C-USA is starting off well today too.

RE: CUSA faces rugged Saturday
But I get Tallgrass' point. Our games against ND, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas and Mississippi State are brutal. We've done really well so far, through three games, but the biggest challenges are still before us. Here's hoping we're competitive in a couple of these (or "all" would be nice). I'm not a fan of scheduling these kinds of top tier games (mid-level and below are fine), but as we are seeing again this year, in many of the early games, stuff happens that you don't expect...so, let's kick off and see.

Third best in what?

Looking at today's games I would say Troy is possibly the worst team.

As others have posted on the C-USA Board, C-USA teams went 5-0 in games against the G-5 and the wins came over teams from each of the other G-5 conferences.

I would not say they did well considering they went 7-6 and winless against the P5. Beating your chest over beating Miami Ohio, Troy, Houston, and a bunch of FCS teams is silly.

If anyone had a big day it was the Sun Belt.

Actually it was a very good week for CUSA. Not happy about it, but they got 5 OOC FBS wins. The Sun Belt managed 1.

I guess if you go into the wins, you'll see that there were THREE very impressive wins (UTSA, WKU and UAB (!)) in there. Another was a road win

There's no point in pretending that CUSA had a bad week. They didn't. Lets work on our games next week.

CUSA had a great week. Yeah, beating Miami and Troy are not chest bumping type wins, but they are still wins against G5 competition. Houston is a much bigger win considering the league and the schedule.

That being said. Troy is far from the 3rd best team in the SBC. If they are the 3rd best team, than the SBC is in a mess.

RE: CUSA faces rugged Saturday
CUSA also had the only G5 loss to a FCS school this weekend in FIU(only 2 of those overall- out of 46 games total- Iowa St losing to ND State was the other one).

CUSA's thing is next week their 7 winners- 6 of them play P5 teams- with 4 of those games on the road. We'll see how many 2-0 teams they have after that.

I'll say this for sure- the MWC had a bad weekend out of the G5 conferences- lost 6 games, and only won 1 game against FBS competition. Can say the same about the Sun Belt- only 1 FBS win.

Calling it as I see it. You guys got absolutely blown out in every game against a p5 team. One of your teams lost to a FCS team, and Houston was probably the only fbs team you guys beat that had a winning record last year. Maybe UNM.

But the point is that's nothing to be proud regardless of what the conference name says. The MWC and the AAC were pretty average also.

No G5 team should be beating their chest about how their conference performed.

Bowling Green was 10-3 and the 2013 MAC champion.

Solid week by CUSA.

Losses to P5 were from mid to bottom tier CUSA teams.

FIU is absolutely terrible...you can't put that on CUSA.

The other G5 conferences did nothing to impress.

From conference champs to 'mid to bottom tier' in one afternoon.

Well two afternoons and a graduation. Owls looked rough in their bowl game.
