Franklin was leaving no matter what. He saw that he had hit the ceiling at Vandy.

I don't think so. Franklin was getting good recruits out of Memphis. He was out-recruiting the Memphis staff for talented kids.
As long as he had the talent...Vandy was always going to be a tough draw.
In fact, had it not been a 'premeire' school type job opening...he might never have left.
Vandy might not be UCLA, USC, or Notre Dame...but it is still a P5 job..

Thought I would finish that thought for you.

Wrong Ole Miss would never stoop low to hire a Tigah coach

Didn't they inquire about Tommy West when we were riding high? Or am I thinking about someone else?

They've made a bad coaching hire. He's come in and put his 'stamp' on the program and basically taken a good team and effed them up, badly.

I don't think there was anything they could have done to keep Franklin though. He had pretty much done all he could do at Vanderbilt.

Ole Miss hurt themselves badly in the first half with penalties, turnovers and poor QB decisions. They will get the kinks out and be tough to beat this year, especially in Oxford.

I don't remember ever seeing so many false starts by one team

Franklin couldn't fill that stadium with the best teams they've had in years.

Vandy's fall back to earth will be swift and painful.

Franklin left because he knew what was in his player pipeline. Which is not much.

Vandy had a couple of playmakers that are no longer eligible. Franklin knew this, like other smart people. Some bought into the recruiting hype that Vandy was loading up with players.
