Big Grin Rutgers Sells Record Number Of Season Tickets
http://www.scarletknights.com/football/n..._Lm1lp0yAI

Rutgers’ inaugural football season in the Big Ten is officially the hottest ticket in school history.

A program-record 30,721 season tickets have been sold – eclipsing the old mark of 30,500 set in 2009 – and just 367 seats remain for the Scarlet Knights’ Big Ten opener against Penn State on Sept. 13 at High Point Solutions Stadium, the school announced today.

The majority of the remaining seats for the Penn State game were released today for sale following returns from Big Ten corporate sponsors. Those tickets are priced at $165.

“We were thrilled to get these tickets back from the Big Ten’s corporate sponsors,” said Geoff Brown, Rutgers’ Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Marketing Officer. “We love that we can make these available to our fans and get more Rutgers supporters in the stadium for the inaugural Big Ten game.”

Brown’s originally stated goal of 27,000 season tickets sold was surpassed in recent weeks in large part because of the demand created by the appearance of three high-profile Big Ten opponents on the home schedule. In addition to Penn State, that includes Michigan on Oct. 4 and Wisconsin on Nov. 1.

There are just 1,029 seats left for the Michigan game.

“In a few weeks, we fully expect that the Michigan inventory will be as limited as the Penn State inventory is currently,” Brown said.

Even with the recent availability of Penn State tickets from Big Ten sponsor returns, the game is expected to be a sellout shortly. Capacity at High Point Solutions Stadium is 52,454.

“This is it. We do not expect to receive any more tickets back from the Big Ten or any other sources,” Brown said. “Once these tickets go, we are sold out. We are excited and we are expecting one of the largest crowds in stadium history.”

Of the 30,721 season tickets sold, 3.75 percent (1,113) are the result of Mini Plan Full Season Equivalents (the combination of two three-game Mini Plan packages to equal one six-game home season ticket).

“We are proud to reach the 30,000 season ticket benchmark,” Brown said. “The atmosphere at High Point Solutions Stadium is going to be electric with crowds this size.”

Will probably see that number plummet if RU fails to win a B1G game this year. Ticket prices are crazy hot right now though or the Penn State and Michigan game.

Not if we get a new coach, and if we don't win a conference game, we will have a new coach

I agree that if you can't beat Indiana, you should get a new coach.

Pretty cold of TPTB giving you both Whiskey and Nebraska for your Western Division games ... when there was Illinois and Purdue and Minnesota available.
