I don't know how many Ohio State alumni could actually get in the school nowadays. Either way, this is a positive development for the conference IMO. Graduate schools had always been excellent but now we are really stepping it up in undergrad competitiveness.

Surprised to see how these scores have risen so dramaticly at some schools. I wonder if this will change the types of majors students will choose.

I wonder if this is related in any way with declining student attendance at football games?

Looks like they are really trying to turn the B1G into the public equivalent of the Ivy League.

And no I don't think game attendance is affected by this trend but I could be wrong. In my experience... high earning nerds love their alma mater as much as the next guy.

Just found this. The ACT isn't reported by Rutgers and Maryland because the SAT is more prevalent. The article is more specific to ACT scores.

Dang it Rutgers and Maryland. Get with the program. You are in the Big Ten now. Your students need to start taking the ACT. Enough of that east coast lame SAT stuff.

I mean the SAT is so inferior to the ACT it boggles my mind that any school would use the SAT.

(Ok I may be a little biased because ACT headquarters are in Iowa City, but still, get with the ACT!)

I hate standardized tests. But, we stack up as you would expect. Institutional fit was never the issue for our schools joining up.

This new link you provided is interesting because you can look at each school individually. Most schools either went up gradually since 2001 like OSU or stayed flat like Nebraska.

But for Iowa, the 25th percentile went way up in just one year from 22 in 2012 to 25 in 2013. I wonder what is going on since Iowa was consistently in that 22-23 range from 2001 to 2012.

Did Iowa get an ultimatum from the AAU? Were they told other schools scores were climbing and they needed to keep up? Or maybe they would get kicked out of the AAU like Nebraska if they don't improve? I have no idea. Maybe 2013 was a statistical outlier and Iowa will go back to 22 or 23 next year.

I know I'm in the vast minority, but I've never thought bragging about these rising was ever a good thing. It means the schools are more exclusive on top of vastly more expensive. Not a good direction imo.

I look at it being able to get a practically ivy league education at an in state price.

There was practically no ACT on the east coast when I was in HS (class of 97). I was one of the few students in my class to take one.
