Rally Club Resurrected
I was perusing the old Facebook this morning when I noticed this page: http://sa.rice.edu/rallyclub

Looks like the athletic department has resurrected the good ol' Rally Club, but in a much more official manner. It looks to me to be similar to the VSL program instituted by the CDC administration, which basically used student volunteers to try and organically grow the tailgating culture with the undergrads. The VSL program was pretty successful when it was being run, and it's the main reason I became so involved with Rice athletics, so hopefully this incarnation of the Rally Club can be even more effective and avoid any of the issues that the group had back in the day.

Well, as long as it doesn't turn into group it had morphed into during my first couple years at Rice, I'm all for it. I am definitely for any way to get the students more engaged.

From what I saw at that time, I agree whole-heartedly. Conversely (or inversely, or maybe contrapositively), if it comes to resemble the Rally Club of my student days, it will be a nice addition to campus and to school spirit.

Reading Parliament threads...a good way to expand ones vocabulary!

contrapositive

adjective
1. placed opposite or against

noun
2. (logic) a. a conditional statement derived from another by negating and interchanging antecedent and consequent
b. a categorial proposition obtained from another, esp validly, by any of a number of operations including negation, transferring the terms, changing their quality, and also possibly weakening from universal to particular

Maybe you and some of your contemporaries can lend your support in the resurrection of the group to ensure that it successfully gets off the ground in the most positive direction?

It appears to me that this is a pretty formal thing happening and is either being run by the administration of the athletic department.

Thanks for the clarification, but I respectfully disagree with this thinking/execution, if truly this is the case. I think this would be a nice opportunity for alumni engagement, thus strengthening support for athletics all-around.

It can't be "contrapositively." A statement and its contrapositive are logically equivalent: they are either both true or both false.

A statement's converse and inverse are also logical equivalents, so "conversely" and "inversely" should be interchangable.

I'm afraid to attend. Wearing my "Beer Me" Rally Club T-Shirt might be frowned upon as an Evil Influence from the Past.

No, I think you would be "grandfathered in" if you did - it's a classic! 04-cheers

The more important question - is the shirt still wearable after so many years?

There were probably ~400 students at the soccer game tonight.

You forgot to mention it was a 2-1 win over Vandy. The equalizer was scored in the last 3 minutes of regulation, and the winning goal was scored in the first 2-3 minutes of overtime. Great job Owls!

It was mentioned on another thread, but yes, it was very exciting. I want to see that first goal.... Was it deflected into the net by a Commodore? I couldn't tell from my vantage point.
