Brought to you by the Sun Belt. Can't be 2000 people in the stands. And ACU is up by a few points in the 4th quarter.

Kinda feel sorry for Georgia State. It's just down right embarrassing.

Thanks a lot SunBelt. You are the first conference to try to lose to a D1AA school.

Don't know what happened to GSU. UTSA and South Alabama made the transition to FBS around the same time and turned out fine, but GSU looks like it doesn't belong in FCS much less FBS.
Not fair to the Sunbelt to judge them based on their worst team by far

UTSA is in a big city with no competing professional or college teams. South Alabama doesn't have a professional team in the area and the college teams are far enough away that they can still draw in some casual fans as long as they're not playing at the same time as Bama or Auburn.
Georgia State competes with the Falcons and Georgia Tech...not to mention Georgia is only a little over an hour away.
They play in a facility that is far too large and have a campus that houses a very small % of their students.

You wonder how GA St. will ever be able to turn it around. There's just.....many problems.

It's not quite that simple. Georgia State is a model of how to do absolutely everything wrong when (1) Starting a football program (2) moving that program from FCS to FBS. The hirings, facilities, marketing (let's not forget the money drop), and their scheduling ( West Virginia, Alabama, ect.) have all contributed to where that program is today.

Yeah, I'm not necessarily talking about their attendance. South Alabama doesn't draw huge crowds either but they field competive teams.
Happy for GSU though, I can't even imagine how tough it must be to go two years without winning a game.

Abilene Christian did everything they could to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That was an embarrassment. The belt should have lost a game to what is basically a division 2 team. Hard to believe GSU is FBS.

Some dumb arse moves toward the end-- throwing the ball on second down, etc.
Both QB's looked good, however-- scrappy

They'll probably go 0-11 the rest of the way. Let them have this one, they deserve it.

GSU will be fine in time, they may never be great, but they'll continue to improve. Hopefully the deal to repurpose Turner Field goes through, think it will be a win win for everyone involved.

South's gonna sell out their home opener this year the way the numbers look. Their location, like UTSA, gives them the ability to bring major conference schools in for home games.
GSU has dealt with an incompetent administration, a lack of facilities, struggling fan support, and playing with a Pro Team, and Two major College Football programs basically in the same area. Throw in their original coach didn't know what he was doing for good measure.
I think they'll figure it out...but it will take a while. Not that its unusual. Western lost its first 17 games at the FBS Level, and they turned out just fine. I've always felt that they were added for their basketball program, and the Atlanta market. Never agreed with the Market strategy, but if they can get the Olympics up to speed, they'll turn out okay conference wise.

New Mexico State at home this week. NMSU is supposed to be worse than Georgia state this year if you listened to the polls. Might start 2-0. They are always going to be scrappy, so I've said 3 or 4 wins is possible out of that bunch if someone has a bad game.
Its hard to play in front of an empty arena. I've heard AState's players mention that before when we've gone on the road to the Florida Twins back when they were awful.
