I've never heard a convincing argument as to why immigration is a good thing for the economy. It's more a platitude than anything else.

Actually, numerous studies have shown that LEGAL immigration is a boom to the local and national economy. LEGAL immigrants start a significant percentage of the small businesses in the country. Think I read something like 28%. Throughout American history, when we've had large waves of LEGAL immigration, the economy has boomed. Immigrants bring a desire to succeed with them, a sense of ingenuity, fresh ideas, etc. Something that dissipates gradually after successive generations.

Large waves of Illegal/Undocumented immigrants on the other hand don't have the same effect. They can't legally participate in the American free enterprise system, contribute as effectively to the system to supplant the resources needed to support them, etc.

I think it is time that the people in California wage a war against their leaders. This is treason and they should be removed.

Not just the other Mexico but originally part of Mexico. It's a brilliant move. Brown knows that immigrants will boost the economy in California.

Which was also originally part of Spain. Maybe the Spanish people should be allowed to overrun California and Mexico.

Mexico would have kept California. If they actually settled the land in great numbers or didn't attack Americans in the Thornton Affair.

For what? There are no jobs. Besides, when immigrants flooded this country 100 years ago they kept the money in the country. And be honest, when you say immigrants, you don't mean Italians or Irish, you mean Mexicans.
