How can you get rid of a coach with that kind record? and why would you want too. Two down years and it's "see ya, old fart".

We would have to get extremely lucky to have our next coach put up that kind of record in a 9 year span.

Beamer is a good coach and I will not discredit his coaching ability. However, the records that VT has built up comes from a very weak Coastal division.

*Miami has been very sub-par since joining the ACC.
*UNC tried to become a football school with Butch, but that went in the toilet due to his assistant Blake and street agents.
*UVA is the type of school that can have a good run every 4-6 years, but for the most part, they are a 6 to 9 wins a season school.
*GT has under-achieved, but that may be due to academic standards and PJ's triple-option offense.
*Duke has done an awesome job with Cutcliffe, but how much longer will their new-found success continue?
*Pitt is new to the conference and still needs to get accustomed to ACC football.

Most business retire executives between 60 and 62 years old. The U.S. military retire most when they hit age 60. Beamer has hit that age of declining performance, also. It is his time to smell the roses and just enjoy life. 07-coffee3

1. VT has not had a top Quarterback in years. That's one key difference.
2. Another problem was a **** head kicker that cost them the Sugar Bowl with his stupidity and then when given another chance still could not put down the funny weed and the dumb antics.
3. UVa has run a fairly successful whisper program against VT for the last 4-5 years. It's been effective in the Richmond and Tidewater area.

I hope Beamer gets to come and coach in South Bend...

I have a lot of respect for the man.

The same kicker cost us the Coastal division last year.
