Uber expands its services
This is called innovation. It's part of progress.

So guess who hates and continually opposes Uber? Progressives (unions, Dem city alderman, etc)

Quote:Following several other recent innovative additions to the services offered by the ride-sharing, taxi-alternative leader Uber (UberPool that allows customers to share a ride and split the cost, Uber for Business that allows employees who use Uber to bill their trips directly to their company and UberFamily — a car seat option for parents on the go), it now uses its fleet of cars and drivers to deliver food with its new UberFresh service.

I still wish they'd be able to break apart the St. L taxi commission.. The commission was _STILL_ raising holy hell about these guys.

Uber is awesome.

They're technically illegal in Charlotte, but Uber slipped through a state-level law before the expanded into the state that overrides local laws.

I always laugh when I see a line of cabs lined up on the street out in front of the bars with people ignoring them while checking out their phones and looking down the street for their Uber driver.

The funny thing is, cab companies could have very easily done this themselves, but they didn't and now Uber is costing them billions.

They're basically a tech company that has revolutionized the cab industry.

They let individuals use their own cars to basically operate as a cab. They connect drivers and riders together.

They charge 30% less than cabs do with no multiple passenger upcharges, yet pay their drivers considerably more than cab drivers make.

There are drivers in NYC and SF making $75-90,000/yr.

The national average for their drivers is like mid 40's or low 50's.

They were just valued at 18.2 billion dollars. Not bad for a company that is like 2 years old.

Uber started out as a revenue-generator for black-car services. I don't know about you, but I've hired a limo for cheaper than I could get a taxi. Especially at airports where the limo or town car is about to do an empty trip back downtown.

I've used Lyft and Uber around the country and prefer them over cab rides.

Our progressive leadership in Memphis is already shutting them down.

I like services like Uber. You can read rating on drivers. I wish I had that when using the taxis here. We get the following:smoke flavored cabs, drivers on the phone all the time speaking non-English, NPR blasting (sometimes while talking on the phone), windows open on 90-100 degree humid days, BAD odor of the driver...

My buddies used that to get back home a couple weeks ago when I had to leave the club early and they wanted to stay.
