Man, they sure got a ton of rub for knocking our dicks in the dirt that one night last year, because if you watched them against Buffalo the week before or in their bowl game, people wouldn't be so high on them.

You're welcome, BG.

Maybe. Maybe not. Johnson is a damn good QB who will tear up the MAC this year. Babers is a superb coach who will get everything out of his players. BGSU will be a major force (if not THE major force) to be reckoned with in the MAC over the next couple years at least.

Yeah I think BG is good, but they probably go 9-3.

They beat one good team last year, NIU. Got beat by IU, Toledo, Miss State and Pitt. Not good losses IMO.

Also, take out Johnson's stats from the NIU game and he's a little above average. His system will help a lot this year. He's the best returning QB in the MAC, but this is a down year for the MAC.

I see a lot of 6-6 to 7-5 type teams. Ohio Ball state Akron Buffalo. I think NIU Toledo and BG are the only real solid teams and Toledo and NIU are in "down" years.

BG's success this year will depend on how good their defense is. The offense under Babers will be good, but his EIU teams were not good on D and that's what got BG to the level they were at the previous few years. They weren't known for their offense until the latter part of last year. The previous years the defense carried the team.

This is Toledo best team since the Pinkel years.

I'm not saying they are bad, but I don't think they are going to light the world on fire and go undefeated.

If this is their best team and expectations aren't over 10 wins and winning the MAC, which is like the first time in awhile they haven't been a preseason favorite is a "down" year.

If the committee actually takes the schedule into consideration like they say, Marshall's is a complete joke. It's probably a toss up between Akron, Western Kent, and Ohio who would be their toughest opp.

Holy crap you aren't kidding, just looked at it, that might be the weakest schedule I have ever seen for an FBS team.

BTw, here's Johnson's stats without the NIU game. Please tell me he's the best player in the MAC afterwards.

216/343 for 62.97% completions. 20 TD to 7 Int. He had 3,074 passing yards which comes to 219.57 a game. He was also sacked 37 times for 2.64 per game. He averaged under 1.5 TDs a game without the NIU game.

RE: 2014 preseason Underdogs Poll
Regarding BG's offense this year, many pundits are extrapolating last year to this year and that all cylinders will be firing from the get go. Even Babers has said it could take most of this year and even into next year before the offense is full bore. They also are replacing two or three Olinemen so the sack numbers would normally increase. However in the quick pass offense that they will run that might not be the case.

Defensively they lose four, five or six starters so that area is potentially a bigger question mark than expected. BG hasn't been consistent winners and they tend to rebuild vs reload so I think that they may drop down statistically but still win a very bad east division.

And they had a mini QB controversy last year as Johnson did not start the first game but he did replace Stirz(?) quickly in the first game.
